A secluded artists' retreat turns to panic for two friends as they realise they may not be alone.

'Neufeld' is a short horror story written and narrated by writer and musician Maggie Devlin (Party Fears), with sound design and music by Herb Magee (Arvo Party).

‘Dog Star’ examines grief through the lens of a lonely stargazer, hoping their lost companion is out there in the cosmos somewhere. Despite the track’s sombre theme, it moves with a pace familiar to Party Fears fans: unforgivingly driving with an abundance of pop.

Dog Star

‘Sun King II’, the second single from Party Fears’ upcoming EP, Just Friends, is a post-punk scream into the chaos of Brexit and the Trump administration. First written and recorded in 2016, the song has been reworked with two years worth of anger, spit and gall behind it. Northern Irish native, Maggie Devlin’s scorching vocal speaks to toxic masculinity and crash economics, all to the forceful drum stylings of Adelaide’s Eilis Frawley.

‘Money’ is Party Fears’ most unapologetically punk song to date: dark, crunchy guitars, a punishing rhythm section, and Devlin’s acerbic vocal, which peaks in a screaming chorus before the song drops into its mulish outro. True to form, however, the band still manages to sneak in elements of other genres with moments of new-wave guitar melodies and trademark party shout-outs.

The single was recorded by Ryan McGroarty in Start Together Studios, Belfast and mixed by Robert Kelly. The song features Lisa Roller on bass.
