Celebrated singer/songwriter/musician Causion expresses his deep-rooted love for his birthplace, Antigua, the larger island in the eastern Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda, on his latest EP Tropical State of Mind. A collection of seven outstanding songs that evoke sun-kissed Caribbean days, balmy island nights and a mystical aura that only the most meticulously crafted reggae can deliver, Tropical State of Mind dropped on June 24.

A relaxed one drop beat, soulful harmonies and a spirited steel pan solo complement Causion’s honeyed vocals and engaging lyrics on the EP’s title track, a homage to the tranquility and inherent splendor of his birthplace: “you don’t know what this beautiful island has done for me, filled with love and energy…holiday smile, basking in the warm sunshine, keeps me laughing, keeps me dancing, feel like a child, gives me butterflies”. 

Causion’s patriotic “Antigua Me Come From” (included on his previous EP, The Mission in Progress) became the center of a 2022 campaign promoting the island’s tourism through a collaboration with Antigua’s Elite Island Resorts. An acoustic version of the song is featured on Tropical State of Mind, Causion’s heartfelt singing framed by gentle guitar strands, crisp percussion and cheerful harmonies as he touts Antigua’s attributes: “Wouldn’t it be nice to be bathing in the sun? Antigua me come from/365 we have beaches all around, Antigua me come from/come on down if you want to have some fun, Antigua me come from.”
