Ihba L Baskette ) is an American saxophonist, percussionist, and record producer born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Ihba got his name playing percussion in a Caribean ensemble called the Daniel Band.  Ihba is like Oba means ″ruler″ in the Yoruba and Bini languages of West Africa, given by musicians from the band.  Ihba started playing percussion in 4th grade playing bongos in school presentations at the W.C. Longstreth Elementary School
in Philadelphia, and learned rhythms of Latin percussion, already having had a kiddie drum set, drum life was already set in motion.  Ihba began playing percussion in the 90s with various Hip Hop, Rock, and Reggae bands and percussion outfits.  Playing percussion on spoken word nights and often with Poets at the panoramic poetry events at October Gallery.
Some years later Ihba taught West African Drums at Out of Africa on South Street in downtown Philadelphia for 4 years and played at the School of Arts African Dance Classes. Ihba had a few bands in between and was blessed to play often at the Middle East restaurant with lots of amazing bands with large touring acts in a great 3 floor bar . Forward a few years later he traveled playing live Dub Reggae and electronic music and live production on the Boomone Records Label as Dubsmith with a partner RyRy Joji including St. Croix in 2011, then in 2013  we played North Carolina recorded in Kingston Jamaica  doing a video for a Jamaican Poet Laureate named Yasus Afari, called Let’s Have a Talk New York, and have been playing in Tokyo, Japan with a music residency in Cool-Dread Bar in Asagaya, Tokyo since 2013. Ihba also recorded a Dub Vinyl on The Dub Jawn records label, owned by Soul Dragon Soundsystem in 2021.  And then the pandemic came and lockdown with a few Instruments around, he created a Free Jazz improvisation album on Ramble Records in 2022 called the 52nd Street Experimental Ensemble aka 52 Planet  Experimental Ensemble, with a painter and sculptor, Anthony Bayne Senior, saxophonist and percussionist. 
Ihba is in the process of new releases coming out of various types of music with various musicians and artists.
