This track took some work to make, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This is a piece from the first entry of Nintendo's MOTHER series. I was going for a progressive style using the overall theme of the Eight Melodies. I then added the second part which is added in "The End" from the same game. This song is highly inspired by the song by the same name from the MOTHER vocal album.

MOTHER ~ Eight Melodies

So... I play guitar. Classical guitar to be exact. I wanted to record and upload some guitar music for my little place here, but I've had trouble getting perfect recordings so I thought I'd start out simple. Here is "Outside" from Luigi's Mansion. I always liked this piece despite how simple it is. It's just overall a really nice melody and really captures the atmosphere of the mansion's courtyard. To add a little to the piece I recorded part of a short thunderstorm that happened to be conveniently pouring outside while I was putting the song together.

So after way too long, I finally got a good recording of my arrangement of Pollyanna (I Believe in You)/Home Sweet Home from the MOTHER series. This is just such a warm piece that encompasses the entire series and what home is like.

MOTHER ~ Pollyanna (I Believe in You)/Home Sweet Home

I'm back! Still working on VIRAL_INSTINCT, but in the meantime, here is a new and interesting chiptune track made on the TI-83+ using Houston Tracker 2 by irrlicht project. It was really fun to work on my favorite over-priced school device. The tracker is laid out very similarly to Little Sound DJ, so after figuring out the controls and quirks, reading some documentation, and watching some videos about the effects, I felt very much at home.

Maybe some day I'll get back to some hi-fi, hi-bit music, but for now: lovely low-bit bleep fests!

The Houston Principle

Bewildered by the attacks, you were sure that was all there was left. There couldn't be anymore threats right? Wrong. Bugs begin to crop up. Your system crashes frequently and sometimes it seems like the computer is controlling itself. Programs appear that you didn't install. Ads interrupt your work. The computer is practically useless at this point. Yep. You've been rootkitted.

The last actual song of the album. The greatest inspiration for this piece was Parallel Processing by Danimal Cannon and ZEF from the album of the same name with it's three note arpeggios. That's about the extent of the inspiration, though. I really struggled to get a working idea for this piece, but once I got going, I couldn't stop!

ROOTKIT

I am by no means a fan of Homestuck. In fact, I would dissuade you from even checking it out. However, some of the music is worth taking a listen too, and Flare is no exception. Though admittedly not my best piece of music, this remix was fun to make as I paid particular attention to the effects. That distortion fade at the end is my favorite part of the entire song! I also like pieces such as the reversed piano echoes as well as the low pass fading on the arpeggio.

I have two main complaints though. First is that I feel like the song sounds a little empty in places, especially right after the intro in the first repeat of the main theme, but after nitpicking it, I decided to let it be. In addition, I was sad that I couldn't even come close to remaking the percussion line. It's so gnarly, I didn't even know where to start.

But still...

In The End We Can Be Friends

Resurrections is one of the more heavily covered songs from the Celeste soundtrack it seems. It's not even my favorite piece from the OST. That prize would go to "Quiet and Falling." However, I don't think the Gameboy would have lent itself too well to the deadly solemnity of that piece. That being said, Resurrections is a very good track and I enjoyed covering it.

Despite having never played the game, I love Celeste's soundtrack. The first time I listened to it, I found it to be too repetitive with the leitmotifs for my taste, but as I continued to listen and discover the uniqueness behind each track in how they each use the overarching leitmotifs, I really began to enjoy it. It is the perfect soundtrack for thoughtful contemplation or just relaxation or studying. 

I hope you enjoy my rendition of this track. Like the recent uploads, the track is recorded on an official Gameboy through a Zoom H4N. I also added a bit of reverb and bass boost in Auacity.

I also want to thank 8-bit Music Theory for inspiring me to make this cover and also for the help his sheet music excerpts were in a few aspects of the first part of the song.

Trial and Terror

I am an independent developer as well as a musician. I also like to write and draw. In addition, I'm also a learning pixel artist!... though that might fit in the "drawing" category.

I have been running out of space on Soundcloud. I have since deleted four songs: the three songs in my "Ambiance" series (Ambiance: Love can be found on YouTube if you wish to listen to that one again), as well as "Rachel Anna." I'd rather not have to delete more than that, but I might. I delete based on popularity and age. If you want to see some of my old songs stay, give it a like (there is not much likelihood that the GunDown OST is disappearing anytime soon). With that said, however, I may just create a "B-sides" account. If that is the case, I will link to the other account on this account and vice versa. At any rate, you may just find me quit uploading on Soundcloud period. In that case, go look at YouTube.
