This is the theme of Lamenth, Goddess of the Sea in the Elancia Chronicles series. 
As old as Elancia itself, existing as only part of the planet's dream once. It's said she was a peaceful Goddess in the time before The Great Collapse, but grew twisted and broken when the Gods all turned upon each other. She's seen simultaneously as a mother and as a catastrophic force of nature. Those who follow her tend to worship her through song, as she is also the Goddess of music.

I reckon some of you will recognize Transformation/Translation/other names for this theme in here. The second and third books/albums in the series focus heavily on Lamenth, even if it's not terribly obvious for most of the runtime. It'll all make sense in the end. If her theme pops up, it's likely something to do with her is going on. Art is by Renz!
