IKAMVA MARIMBA BAND plays a wide variety of music with different instruments, customized according to the audience or clients’ needs. In addition to the alto, tenor and bass marimba we play African bass drum, saxophone, trumpet and trombone, also featuring the Djembe drum. We compose and play our own songs as well as own versions of national and international acclaimed hits. Our ever growing repertoire includes African music, Gospel, Jazz, Western and Pop music. Besides our regular busking performances at the V&A Waterfront we perform at corporate functions, weddings and other events.

In 2011 IKAMVA MARIMBA BAND released the first CD “Memories of Cape Town” with international and local songs, which became very popular. Till today we sold over 14,000 copies just during busking at the V&A Waterfront, as the CD is not available at any stores.

In 2013 the band recorded their second CD “Merry Christmas”, the first CD ever published in South Africa with Christmas songs played with the typical sound of Marimba instruments, a very unique style. This CD also features South African musicians Yolandé Geldenhuys (vocals) and Kirya Kuti (saxophone) on selected tracks.
Our third CD is in the process of being produced and will be released before the end of this year
Since 2012 we are playing at the V&A Waterfront every second day and had performances at weddings and other private or corporate functions, some of them are:
