When it comes to legendary labels, there aren’t many that have stood the test of time as much as the legendary Circus, a project birthed by Flux Pavilion during the height of dubstep’s UK empire, boasting arguably one of the most popular catalogues of any UK imprint at that time specifically. 

Despite the wane in popularity of the more tear out dubstep sounds that Circus was so closely associated with, the label has remained extremely active, branching out from just 140 music specifically and now looking towards a new breed of bass music producers to carry them forward into this new era.

For this latest drop they introduce the combined sounds of both Dr Meaker and the wonderful Lorna King for a sumptuous original creation entitled ‘You & I’, however, we are here specifically to discuss a particular remix that has managed to find its way onto the project. Enter: Hot Goods.

The Brighton based producer has been kicking up quite the storm of late, with heavyweight releases recovering super positive reactions on the likes of Bingo Bass, Punks and more. This offering shows us all exactly what he is about as he gets to work on rethinking an already fantastic original design.

He reworks one of the vocal lines into a euphoric repeating pattern as we speed toward a breakdown, which we hit with the force of a tsunami as waves of crunchy bass grooves come into the picture, taking a Matrix type feel. When this is combined with minimalist yet punchy drum arrangements and some seriously weighty bass arrangements, we sure are in for one hell of a treat.

The title track is a retro club banger starting the energy of the EP off strong. “Rave Dragon” is as epic as the track title and shines through with a banging heavy bass drop. Next up is “Bankroll” featuring @DreadMC on the vocals alongside a lot percussive movement and a 4x4 to get the feet shuffling. So my NYE didn’t go exactly according to plan… We ran a night at the Trinity Centre in Bristol called “The Fresh Prince of New Year” and I put together a special 90s set which I produced a bunch of new music for, but sadly I never got to play it! My laptop overheated at the gig I played in Exeter earlier in the night (30 seconds before the countdown too!) so when I got back to Bristol I had to wing my set on a friends laptop using an old backup… Anyway, I pulled it all off in the end but unfortunately no one ever got to hear my special set - UNTIL NOW! So here it is, the set that never happened... Enjoy! :)

Sheffield's Thorpey made his debut on Mutant Bass Records in 2011 and since then his tracks have only got bigger and badder.  Acid Trek is no exception, drawing you in with its lead riff and bursting into his trademark gritty bassline with a snappy, broken drum pattern.  He teams up with Mutant Bass regular Heapy for the old skool flavoured Got To Have Love and returns to the 4x4 beats with Spark Out.

The VIP mix of Acid Trek twists up the drums and bass even further, while Kanji Kinetic and Blackmass Plastics each provide their own atmospheric takes on the title track.  Last but not least, JAKAZiD turns everything up to 11 with a ridiculously fun remix of Got To Have Love.
