As Printworks prepares to bring its tenure to an end, the beloved London venue is calling upon The Hydra for a last hurrah event series, the Teachers, paying homage to the clubs and spaces that have come before. FWD>> – the seminal club night that needs little to no introduction – is one such space being showcased.

The final mix in this week's FWD x The Hydra series comes courtesy of DJ Oneman, whose classics-filled set is designed to take you back to the dimly lit basement of Plastic People – and to a period "between 2004-2008ish" if we're being precise – with staple tracks from DMZ, Skream and D1. "FWD>> was the true essence of what a club night should be," says Oneman. "I’m thankful to have been a part of it."

Once upon a time, V.I.V.E.K Sharda was unhappy with the sound at UK nightclubs and parties—sound that he felt couldn't capture the deepest, truest vibrations of the music he wanted to play and hear—so he just made his own sound system. (Naturally, he called it System.) That should give you an idea of how seriously Sharda takes his wubs and his sub-bass, and if you have even a passing interest in UK sound system culture or dub's crossover with dance music—including, yes, dubstep—then you've probably heard of V.I.V.E.K, or at least heard one of his chest-rattling records.

Along with producers like Om Unit and Kryptic Minds—both of whom feature in the mix below—Sharda has never been one for following trends or concerned about scenes. Instead, he's fully devoted to the pulse of dub and the luxury of bassweight. He's put out slow but steady stream of ultra-heavy releases on his own labels System Music and VIVEK, and now he's on a mission to change perceptions of what 140 BPM music can sound like. That's what you'll hear on his RA Podcast, a meditative and occasionally tectonically-shifting mix that highlights dubstep, dub and its many offshoots—not just staggered drums and subterranean low-end but smooth swing and soulful melodies, too.

Om Unit: My vegetable Garden, my studio setup, collaborations and more acid dub! Some club tracks too, also my teaching skills, my relationships and my health! 
Forthcoming music on Zam Zam and Acid Test as well as the dope collab ep w Martyn of course!

Martyn: Yep our second collab EP on 3024 called 'AJ^6', and a remix of Nosaj Thing's 'We Are' (last track of the mix)

Ulterior Motives w/ Benk0 & Tim Reaper - Aaja Channel 2 - 14 05 23

Next up in the Field Maneuvers takeover is the unstoppable force that is London-based DJ and producer Tim Reaper. The Future Retro label boss has been leading the way for the new generation of jungle and drum & bass producers via the label and his event series alongside the likes of Coco Bryce, Dwarde, Kloke and FFF. Aside from his own label, Tim Reaper has released records on labels such as Hooversound (with Special Request), Banoffee Pies Records, Timehri Records, and more. 

Celebrating their 10th(!) anniversary this year, Field Maneuvers returns with their biggest line-up yet at the intimate secret Norfolk location. With a strong mixture of local legends and international talent on the bill, inviting the likes of Black Artist Database, Dialled In, Rye Wax, Kindred, Dalston Superstore and more to do stage takeovers, it's set to be a scorcher!
