Pressure Dome label boss, Jen Hartley – better known as Yushh – is next to supply a flagship Crack Mix.

“I'm into so many different styles at the minute so it was hard deciding on the vibe I wanted to go for, so there are lots of energy shifts throughout the mix,” she tells us. “It's got some beautiful moments, some deep, moody moments and – of course – some wonky, weirdo high-energy bangers. I also wanted to take the opportunity to showcase some incredible new music from mates, some forthcoming Pressure Dome, and a new remix I've been working on, all of which I'm excited to share!”

Due to an artist cancellation, Italian-Ivorian producer and DJ and Nervous Horizon associate Ehua was added at the very last minute to the Unsound 2022 lineup – but she did not disappoint! Ehua played in the early hours of the morning at an Unsound club night, and now you can relive her set, an emotionally-charged dark slow-fast jam with blissful melodic bursts.

CCL (@ccl-url) has many tricks and plenty of surprises up their sleeve. London-born, US-bred but now Berlin-based, they are playful in what they play but serious about how they play it, whether that's head spinning 160bpm cut, "cowgirl-breaks or wiggle steppers." The key for this multidisciplinary artist and former New Forms festival curator is to find the similarities and differences between shades of sound and rhythm and exploit them to spellbinding effect. As a producer, they are no different and have always managed to find fresh in-between sounds on labels like Fever AM and Discwoman. 

The singular DJ steps up this week with almost two hours of pure sonic adventure. It's a perfect showcase of how they can soundtrack imaginary worlds from humid future jungles to robot dances in the sky. You'll hear rhythms you could never imagine and contort your body in impossible ways, all while admiring the dexterity of the DJ who has threaded together such a trippy trip.

3024: Please describe the mix in a single sentence ?

Yushh: A good level of nuts and emotions 

3024: What DJ inspires you at the moment / has inspired you throughout the years and why?

Yushh : Tom Boogizm has played some of my favourite sets over the past couple of years. Unexpected twists and turns but always huge vibes. I’m lucky in Bristol to be around people like Bruce and Batu who’ve always been inspiring to me as DJs - Love the way they carve out their sets in a unique and unpredictable way. I-sha is also a huge inspiration - her sets don’t even sound like dj sets more like a live - so considered and patient and incredible selections. 


3024: What are you working on / what have you got forthcoming?

Yushh : I’ve just finished up a few remixes which should be dropping pretty soon and hoping to finish up another EP and maybe even a mini album by the end of the year. Otherwise I'm looking forward to diving headfirst into festival season then heading to Asia and Auz later in the year for the first time which is crazy exciting.

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. My name is Andre and I make music, DJ, and make visual art as Doctor Jeep. I tend to be pretty diverse in my musical interests and like to keep people guessing what they might expect from a set or release.

Q. How long have you been a part of the NY music scene?
A. I moved back here after graduating college in 2013 and for the first few years was lucky enough to release music on the iconic label Trouble & Bass and play their parties. Felt really nice to be part of a community that was pushing bass-forward music, and when they stopped doing the label I found myself pretty isolated, not having a “home base”. Nowadays, I go out very frequently and developed a nice little community just by hanging with other producers and DJs and learning from my pals. I think the NYC scene is super strong and am really inspired by lots of people that I go out and see. In fact it’s almost too good: I find myself struggling to choose between which parties to go to on any given weekend because there’s too many options and I’m getting to the point where I can’t hit more than 2 events per night - body’s getting old baby!

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. Went with a loose theme of “psychedelic music” - first half is spacey acid-leaning tunes and a teeny bit of dubstep, and the second half is darker atmospheric DnB-adjacent bits. The two halves are pretty different from each other but encompass what I’d consider to be music for those trippier nights. Always get a little nervous putting out mixes that have less consistency in terms of rhythm or vibe but I wanted to showcase a side of me that is different from my usual ‘fun hyperactive party music’ live sets. Hopefully people see the vision :)
