Best known for his cosmic DJ sets and his emotionally driven compositions, the frontman of London’s pioneering underground party ‘Papa Loko’ Othon announces his new record label ‘Conscious Expansion’ and the much anticipated first EP.

Focusing around the soul-expanding expressions of electronic and ambient music, Conscious Expansion launches with 3 remixes of shamanic songs from Colombia, Brazil and Peru, crafted by its founder. The rudimental field recordings of the original songs create strongly defined moods and a sense of authenticity that, together with Othon’s uncompromising treatment and experimentation, renders them timeless.

Whether through the interplay of Icaro Sagrado’s haunting chants and resonance-induced playfulness or Cura Sana’s spirit-driven vocals and relentless flutes that lead to a delirious crescendo and a cathartic climax, the EP pushes the envelops of form and sound design, allowing for both unpredictability and freshness.

All artist profits from this release will go towards Amazon Watch and Tama-Cona Foundation in Colombia.

Goran Bregovic - Ederlezi (Othon Edit)

There are some songs that unconsciously become part of one’s musical DNA.. songs that accompany one’s childhood. Ena Proino is one of them. I was a melancholy kid that loved melancholy music and this old Greek song from the ‘Girls in the Sun’ film, sung by Maria Dimitriadi and written by Stavros Xarnakos, always resonated with me.
