We like a lot the music of Alessandro Pasini aka "Deep88" here at LYO and his own label "12Records". We premiered a classy slow track from the italian house master two months ago. Let's discover a newcomer this time ; no many informations to be found about Paul Deepnlow Moore except for being a gentleman from the UK with roots in classic house and deep house. Long-serving disco-house fusionist Hot Toddy (AKA Crazy P co-founder Chris Todd) is in a loved-up mood on this rather tasty three-tracker. Surprisingly, it's his first solo single for some five years, and his first for House of Disco. It's the breezy, funk-fuelled A-side "In The Genes", in which Todd expertly fuses together elements most often found in proto-house, NYC boogie, early house and disco-funk records, that stands out, though the standard naturally remains high elsewhere. "Love Music", for example, is a wonderfully sauced-eyed stroll through dreamy deep house/disco fusion, while closer "Love Can Set You Free" sits somewhere between stripped-back disco-house, percussive boogie and Idjut Boys style dub disco.

Luca Metreveli played his first DJ Set 2 years ago, in this short period, as an artist, he had gone through a lot of shifts. Currently playing hybrid sets, where he often uses live vocal elements and this makes his music so unique in the entire planet. House has always been and still remains an universal driving force in his music and electronic as the basis of the dance music and cyber romance. The idea of splitting and fragmenting music in genres does not fascinate him, since he perceives it as an integrity, but in order to swim through an infinite data of modern music, he consideres their categorization justified by pragmatic purposes.
As he formulates, the music is the alphabet, which is the most powerful and most understandable language in all languages. Everything what happens in his inner world is expressed in the form of music. When we come acroos the musical influences  on Luca Metreveli, we will face totally different poles. The most important influences are still associated with the 70s, with the Pink Floyd Genesis (Peter Gabriel), Led Zeppelin, the Black Sabbath. The bridge between live and electronic music for him was built by Bonobo. Simon Green is an artist whos love is hard to describe with words for him. Larry Heard, Vince Watson, St Germain, Funk'D Void Keith Tucker, Tommy Hamilton, Underground resistance, E.R.P and hundreds and thousands of other musicians have an influence on Luca's every day life. His greatest desire is that at all stages of his life, music to accompany, guide, protect and live with him. Luka understands and listens to the world as a music, so it's impossible for him to exist without it.

We’re very excited to announce that the latest three EPs on mobilee have been produced by three of the biggest female figures in the music industry today…

After Anja Schneider finished 2010 and Miss Kittin kicked off 2011 for mobilee, it´s Maya Jane Coles turn now on mobilee074. Maya is one of the freshest female talents who's causing a stir with her memorable DJ- and live-sets, as well as original and unique productions. At the young age of only 23, Maya Jane Coles has burst onto the electronic dance scene with recent releases such as  'What They Say' on Real Tone reaching No.1 in the Beatport Deep House Chart and No.1 in Resident Advisor's Top Tracks for October. Unsurprisingly, she has also won big support of the industry's most legendary DJs and is currently touring the globe on a tightly packed schedule.

Here at Bearfunk HQ we firmly believe in perseverance. We keep asking questions until we get the right answer and with 6ft bear by our side the answer is usually yes. We kept asking Ilija Rudman to get in the studio and write us a killer LP but being the busy bee that he is it was hard for him to take the time out. We kept asking until he eventually caved in and went underground to record his first LP, ‘The Reveal’.

 

Ilija is a devoted and passionate man when it comes to music. One of his prerequisites for recording an LP was that the recordings had to be made with the same techniques and equipment that inspired him to make music in the first place. So Ilija hooked up with one of his studio mentors and got his dream line-up of synthesizers, Roland Jupiter 4 & 8, Minimoog, Roland SH2, Juno 60 and his dream drum machines Linn and Oberheim DMX. These analogue machines fire up to create a warm and authentic vibe across the whole LP.

 

We are reminded here that machines do have soul if used properly. We start proceedings with the wigged out boogie of ‘Inspectors Drive’ which might be a little nod in the direction of Wally Badarou’s classic ‘Chief Inspector’. 

 

We then get all Shep Pettibone with ‘Victory 2010’, ‘I Dub You So Much’ and ‘Gentle Fire’. ‘Prisoner Of Passion’ has the same special melodic bliss as Maze’s classic ‘Twilight’. ‘Show Me The Magic’ and ‘More Than A Memory’ have all the ingredients of DJ friendly hits. The LP reveals all the influences that Ilija has experienced and it shows the talent that runs inside him as he is able to make such an amazingly retro LP sound like something from the future.

We’re sure in years to come this LP could become as important as the influences that inspired Mr. Rudman to make it.
