We’re hitting the ground running on this next one as Toolroom welcomes mysterious UK duo Wh0 & Brighton powerhouse Kideko for their main label release. Teaming up together on ‘Soul Searcher’, Wh0 & Kideko bring a fresh touch to the label with a sound that skirts the world of 2000’s Daft Punk French House vibe but with a more refined edge. 
 
Wh0 have released on Toolroom and the sub label Toolroom Trax previously, with the killer ‘Real Good’ & Dombresky collab ‘Take Me Away’, Kideko on the other hand makes his Toolroom debut. An established name in the scene already, Kideko has released cuts on Ministry of Sound, Stress Records, Realm and many more, collaborating with artists such as Friend Within, Armand Van Helden and Kudu Blue to name a few. 
 
Although we might not really know who Wh0 are, given the result of this record, it’s clear to see that the duo are a perfect match for a collab with Kideko. Together, they have dropped a full blown, feel-good House production. From the get-go, ‘Soul Searcher’ hooks you in with its incredible use of the 1976 classic D.C Larue ‘Cathedrals’ sample layered with tough drums and plenty of weight to keep those dance floors moving. There are some awesome brass hits that swirl around the filtered-out rising piano chords and a killer vocal ‘Don’t stop the music now it’s deep inside my soul’. Safe to say Kideko & Wh0 have absolutely smashed this!

"No Rhyme or Reason" is back as a wacky, wet, & wild EP that promises subzero rhyme or reason. The original song is a fan-favorite off the album "Discoholics Anonymous" & this EP adds two new ways to vibe to the senseless fun in the form of remixes by CrystalForce and Doktor Plekter. CrystalForce channels the classic sound of the greats of UK Garage with meticulously chopped up samples that transform the song to push lyrics to the back & let it send its message with the unique and exciting instrumental itself. Doktor Plekter brings a bouncy Prog-Disco sound that adds in more playfulness & dances around the original to provide a new tone and a whole new way to party with no rhyme & no reason. The cover art by the artist MEAT brings it all together with the Discoholic as a vintage psychiatrist holding up 2 Disco-inspired inkblot tests set against a vibrant background made of lyrics in Wingdings. You can try to make sense of it, but not everything needs a reason.

The title says it all about the latest release on Budabeats Records: The Southern Hemisphere EP features 4 tracks inspired by the immensely rich and diverse musical tradition that South America and Africa offers. Beginning with a slick edit of Letta Mbulu’s now classic tune ‘Nomalizo’, London based producer Petko Turned respectfully reconstructed the track, focusing on the elements that work best on the dancefloor. In ‘Pontos das Caboclas’, BéTé (a.k.a. Suhov) created a laid back yet driving atmosphere, using the main patterns and the beautiful vocals of the original song as written by Camila Costa. In his remix, Chillum Trio added his trademark sound to the Ebo Taylor classic ‘Odofo Nyi Akyiri Biara’, the result is a slow burning, bass heavy house number taking the original to a completely new level. Closing the EP is the Birdhouse collective’s original composition, ‘Berimbao’, a catchy contemporary cumbia tune that any combo in Bogota could be proud of. All titles have been licensed carefully, it makes us beyond proud to be able to say that the Southern Hemisphere EP has the full support of the original artists.
