Born Ray Hernandez and hailing from northwest Indiana, Ill-icit the Ill One has faced and overcome his share of obstacles. From growing up in a single parent home in a drug and crime infested environment, to facing major skepticism in a local music scene dominated by African-Americans. After proving himself time and time again at freestyle battles, performances, and even successfully organizing his own shows, it is clear that this rapper of Mexican descent is a force to be reckoned with.
    Ill-icit first accumulated a substantial following with his older brother Luis, AKA Verse-tile, as an entity known as High Powered Entertainment. The group released several mixtapes and compilations which were sold out of their trunks and at local shops.
   Ill-icit’s older brother eventually received a lucrative career opportunity in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas and relocated. Ill-icit began work on his solo album and features on other local artists’ projects. After collaborating with childhood friends Critical and P Rock of Break Ur Neck on several projects, the trio decided to get together form a group called Trilla G. 
    After the group formed, the Trilla G fanbase steadily increased, thanks to their persistence. The group opened up for some major acts, including; Spice 1, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Souljah Boy, Twista, 2 Chainz, Jeremih, Mario, Bone Thugs n Harmony, and The Yin Yang Twins. They even won first place, out of 13 groups at a Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes competition in Miami and were invited back to compete against finalists from other cities. Unfortunately, the day before their plane was scheduled for take-off, Ill-icit was arrested on drug charges. Their album The Trap Pack was never released. 
   Ill-icit had been in and out of jail all his life, but this was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. After 9 months of incarceration and much reflection, Ill-icit chose to pursue his passion as a solo artist. He decided that he would focus on inspirational music. He wanted to use his influence to steer people away from the lifestyle that he previously portrayed in his music. His scheduled release from probation is January 2017. 
   The best way to describe Ill-icit’s unique sound: a mix of the fast-paced, tongue-twisting Midwest sound and Southern crunk music, with a dash of Spanish. Known for stealing the show at local venues, Ill-icit is well on his way to changing lives and has the potential to become a household name with his catchy hooks, witty lyrics, and inspirational songs that are bound to appeal to the masses.
