What an incredible weekend all round, spent with old friends and new. we shared, we laughed, we danced. 

This set was the last we danced to on the weekend. Recorded in the honeypot late on Sunday night. It was my honounr to spin some tunes and to those who danced just a little bit more, you made my night.

MonteMel - Sunday Night in the 'HoneyPot'

After a crazy year, the city is brewing with new energy. This set was brought to life at a private rooftop event celebrating New York's comeback, and welcoming the summer months. 

I wanted to express New York's diversity by selecting songs from around the world. It celebrates sounds from South Africa, Bulgaria, Brazil, Cameroon, Colombia, Spain, Italy, France, and of course the US from the West Coast to the deep South. 

The mood is upbeat and bouncy, and works both for daytime and night-time vibes. Hope that you enjoy it, and that you have a wonderful start to the summer!

VeloVelo - Back in NY

Here is my live recorded final - ish set from Sunday's peach of a night at Afrikaburn, after @kobusm landed the temple burn with some amazing music. 

It was such a pleasure to be part of the Loki support and mischief team, we had almost 30 DJ's playing off Loki during the course of the week and what fun was had. Such diversity and energy brought by each one. 

I was gifted 2 sound clip opportunities that came with such spontaneity during the week. Firstly a verbatim recital of the Lorax story by Alex, 1815 wonderful words so elegantly told. Secondly, a handpan contribution from a wonderful human to close off this special Sunday / end of burn week moment, as the embers receded.

I have mixed these 2 clips into this mix where it felt most right

Inspired by the warm bassy soundsystem and the moomin-house itself, i decided to explore the trippy side of the house with a mix of swingy afro-house and tracks from old-school  heros like Delano Smith (who is currently fundraising for cancer treatment, link here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/delano-smith-rare-cancer-treatment-fundraiser )  Also revisiting Claptone’s 2012 release “Cream”, and mixing it with some new tracks from Giegling’s Map.ache. A few blast from the pasts with a deep Timo Maas remix of Moby’s Porcelain, and a recent tasteful remake of R.E.M’s Losing my religion. Last part of the set I got company behind the decks as my old b2b friend Bjornson came by for some action (AKA “Fathers with different lawyers”)… Also thanks Alex Esser for swinging by and putting on that epic Booka shade track… The last track - “2000 Freaks Come out” - was a tribute to Borderland, and especially Muumimaa, and it felt like the roof almost came back off the house… 😉 I had the most amazing time behind the decks seeing such vibrant energy on the dancefloor… thank you all for gifting such a vibrant dancefloor, and big thanks for the moomin-crew for gifting borderlands best sound and friendliest artist-hosting with a constant flow of good vibes and lovely drinks!

Deaf Can Dance - Roof Party 2019

Although we are publishing @bonjourben’s set on the first day of fall, it’s certainly more about summer, or rather about the memories it left, which vary from person to person but are nonetheless from the same days, that will keep us warm in winter, springing to our minds and making us smile in secret. Those days will seem so distant but so close at the same time, reminding us of the time when the sun and the moon would replace each other over and over again. Those memories will also be about the days we had last summer and are going to have next year, maybe different for each of us, but still long enough for the sun to unexpectedly wake us up in the morning and for us to be unwilling to go to bed at night.

P.S. Träume [tʀɔɪ̯mə] is a German word that means “dreams”.
