One year ago.
In about 20 or so minutes, I would get a call from my auntie that would change my life forever... somehow I already knew. My stomach started twisting in knots with every call of the ringer. I answered and my heart sank... she told me my mom passed away a few hours ago during the night. I was literally on my way to go see her, I figured I'd show up first thing in the morning and we'd spend the day together. Now days seem to go by and the future only means living another day further from when I last hugged you, looked into your eyes or was calmed by the song of your voice. It's honestly terribly painful, but I'm more appreciative than ever (funny how that goes). I wish I had more time to love you better... now that love was helping me love myself even more. Even though we may not speak the way we used too, I don't know if you can hear me but I talk to you all the time.

I heard this amazing beat produced by Castelluzzo, and I was inspired to provide my rendition of it. 

I wrote the lyrics to what the track means to me, from the first moment I heard it. I spoke to me about life, so I thought I'd reflect.

I was born and raised in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Although I'm from the East side, I've lived on both sides of the city. I have always been surrounded by music, the city itself breathes creativity and art, throughout all the struggle.. I consider myself an artist you wouldn't normally see in my home town. The street wasn't new to me, my family wanted to keep me out of it, to do something different... so I did. I never aimed to be different, just to be me honestly. It took time to truly find myself and take pride in who I was... which was different, smart, creative, a n.e.r.d. and I love it. But recognize, I'm still from the D.
