One day, in a misty meadow, somewhere in Tennessee, at dusk, or maybe it was dawn… or maybe it was just partially cloudy… 

One day Illy was out for a stroll. She was picking an assortment of flowers, fungi, and foliage for her various spells, remedies, and vegan delicasses. Suddenly, a single firefly floated by and Illy, being the curious type she was, is, and always will be, decided to follow it. She opened her mason jar and danced her way toward the little glowing bug, and when she finally caught him, she looked around and to her surprise could see that she was in Los Angeles. Not being the type to fight fate, and more distracted by her thirst and the compelling sound from inside, she wandered into the nearby pub. 

There was a loud ruckus on the stage. A four piece, instrumental rock band bearing the name “The Spells” was lighting the stage on fire. Or maybe at that point they were just playing music loudly. That's right. The fire came later... back to the story... 

When Illy saw the name she thought to herself, 'how mystically appropriate', and approached the group between songs. She offered her services as a singer. Assuming she was the typical drunk hippie only seconds away from requesting “free bird” or “Stairway to Heaven”, the band rolled their eyes and the drummer started to count off into the next song. Then, with a smile, Illy offered to buy them a round. 

Suddenly it was break time! The five strolled to the bar and to all but Illy’s surprise, there were already drinks waiting for them. With a clink of the glass, and pints down the hatch, the band mysteriously found themselves on stage with Illy singing lead vocals. Not being the type to fight fate, and more distracted by the music they couldn’t remember learning, they rocked on and thus Illy and the Spells was born.
