Derived from the arabic word ilm, meaning knowledge.
ilmli (Troy Stoner) started playing trumpet in the sixth grade, and after one year decided he wanted music to be his life.  Shortly after starting college, he sold his trumpet and bought a drum machine, which he spent endless nights playing.  He transferred colleges when he realized music was his passion, and graduated with an audio engineering degree.  He then moved to NYC to work in different recording studios.  In the midst of his pursuit as a composer he entered and won the Sasha, BT, and Habersham Remix contests. After which he was able to co-remix two tracks with BT.

Before creating his new solo project, Troy was previously creating music with Will Hough under the name Ominous Cloud.  After an EP release through MLE (Eukatech Records) and Ndorphin, a self-published album, and two placements of their songs in “Dirt” the FX show with Courtney Cox, Troy began to attract attention.  His debut as a solo artist began with a few remixes which were released under Lobotomy Records.  Shortly thereafter he dropped his full length album 'the.dancing.onion'.

With his new solo project, his goal is to make every album an exploration into different realms of electronic music. A good mix of dance and down tempo tunes with an underlying progressive vibe.  Each track is meant to contain elements of introspection, yet still keeping ones head bobbing and feet moving.
