Hello and welcome back to PFG -The Progcast, our exclusive weekly travelogue exploring the world of Planet Prog.

Continuing on our mini break around the British Isles, we head north of the border to our first trip into Scotland, and her capital Edinburgh. We searched long and hard to find a DJ to represent his country WITHOUT turning to a big name, and we're happy to announce we think you'll agree with our selection. Popular amongst the many groups, podcasts and online stations that he plays for, PFG are proud to present.... Stevie Reid!

I've always had an interest in dark electronic music when growing up, but I think it was seeing Leftfield live in 1996 which set me on the path to the dark progressive house that I love. My first interest in DJing didn’t arrive until 2006, but it quickly became an obsession that has never left me.

Come 2010 I was playing regularly at Edinburgh club night Karnival, and thanks to my friend, Kev Wright  (producer and veteran of the Edinburgh club scene) I was able to get involved in some production, seeing several tracks released together.

After a few years feeling disconnected from the scene, I resumed recording mixes regularly in 2016, and never looked back. In the last three years I’ve been fortunate enough to have my entry to a mix competition picked out by Quivver, appear on Gai Barone’s Patterns show, do guest mixes for Saturo Sounds and 21C Progressive House, and play a gig in New York with two of my closest friends.

 After an initial guest mix for Progressive House UK, they asked me to become  resident with them. I find it incredibly exciting to have a platform on which to create mixes every month, alongside other great DJ's.

I am truly honoured to have been asked to put a mix together for PFG's Progcast, its such an amazing group and I really hope you enjoy the mix. If you do, you can find more of mine at:

This week our journey takes us to the magical country of Australia, and her beautiful people and climate that seem an ideal stop point for finding the freshest underground sounds we can. Its here we find an Ex-Pat doing rather well for himself. From Northern Ireland originally but making big waves down under, ladies and gents give it up... for Mark Craven!!

With an incredible history in the UK & AUS dance music scenes, Northern Irish DJ Mark Craven continues to scale the heights and is one of Sydneys most respected DJs... and for very good reason. Technically perfect, a foolproof knack for reading a room, with expertise lying in the lush surrounds of deep melodic and progressive through to gritty paths of minimal techno.

In 2019 he released on Hernan Cattaneo's SUDBEAT imprint and has remixes out this week on onedotsixtwo and If you wait.

Being such a versatile DJ, Mark holds residencies at Return to Rio and Church of Techno and is annually booked for almost every major Sydney house music festival.
Craven's poignant progressive taste and flow makes him a favourite in the big city!!

We are proud to present this beautiful mix, Episode Eight of our monthly Exclusive Series, with AUDIOGLIDER.  

There are points in every artist's musical journey that highlight a sea change or a shift in consciousness. The ﬁrst of those moments for Roberto Sodano was the time he saw Kraftwerk as a spotty teen with dodgy 80’s haircut. Their machine funk sound completely captivated him and his love of all things electronic began. 

Born in Wales to Italian parents, the ’Tafﬁa’ as they were affectionately known, they finally relocated to London after stints all over the UK and Central Europe.

Growing up in a bleak post-industrial city drove Roberto’s need to escape through all manner of musical discovery:  experience borne out in his esoteric musical inﬂuences of 80s and 90s shoegaze, from bands such as Ride, MBV and the Cocteau Twins through to synth pioneers including the aforementioned Kraftwerk and a pre-Dare Human League.
“Music has always been there for me. It’s a friend that doesn’t judge you, a comfort blanket and a kick up the arse when you need it.”

Choosing to make music as much as become a DJ, Roberto released tracks under a range of pseudonyms before ﬁnally settling on his current nom-de-plume ‘Audioglider’. 
His big break came with the licensing of two tracks under the new project name
– Whiskers and Zusammenallein – for Nick Warren’s Global Underground CD, GU30 Paris. 

“These were my ﬁrst ofﬁcial releases as Audioglider, it’s all been downhill from there!” he quips, as he’s now held in high regard by an army of fans and industry insiders alike.

A master of both uptempo club tracks and more winsome downtempo fayre, he cites inﬂuences as wide ranging as Ulrich Schnauss, Massive Attack and School of Seven Bells for his more cerebral back catalogue additions which includes four albums for Tripswitch’s Section Records – two solo - Accidental Beauty and Subaquamarine and two with music maven Xspance - Kollision and Sensory Reception.

Referencing his inﬂuences can be heard as echoes on everything that Roberto does, while at the same time, they glisten in their own unique light. Translucent in sound.

“I don’t stick to a formula so I can explore and develop my musical identity without boundaries.”

One of the most telling sea change events for Roberto was playing his ﬁrst gig at a disused warehouse in East Berlin. “It was my very ﬁrst go on 1210s and I blagged the gig after meeting some Germans at MoS.” he says, “I got a crash course at Zoom Records one afternoon from Billy Nasty and then ﬂew to Berlin next day!” Gigs at Ministry of Sound and beyond bookmarked the 90s and early 00s, a vibrant time for dance music and for the development of progressive house.

Even now Roberto’s ambitions are as strong as ever, signing with the Origin presents artist agency at the tailend of 2019, along with industry stalwarts Anthony Pappa, Luke Brancaccio, Dale Middleton, Ian Dillon, Nadia, Zoyzi, Amber Long, Ian Dillon and others. 

With a flurry of releases and remixes in 2019, 2020 and into next year on labels such as Mirabilis, Pro B Tech, Pangea, Manual, Vector Space, Melodic Beats, Vested, , Emotional Content, VLSI and Tarnished Tracks, his frequent and critically acclaimed collaborations, and new solo album on the horizon, as well as his show Interstellar on Frisky Radio, regularly crashing into their top ten, and his stunning sets at Modern Agenda’s label showcase at ADE 2018 and 19, and back to back sets with Origin agency superstar Nadia, the future is looking bright for Audioglider and his sonic doodling.
