Our quest sees us back in the UK this week, and the home of a veteran DJ, Producer, Radio Host, Remixer, Producer... you name it! Currently a resident DJ and Promoter for You Belong, Il Modo make some noise for Andrew Best

Andrew's love for dance music started around the age of 10 after being handed a live recording from a warehouse rave by one of his older sister’s mates. Soon after, armed with his first pair of turntables and the music scene an addiction, he managed to get a gig at a local rave, Club 2000. 

Things started to build quickly from there as Andrew went on to DJ at several clubs throughout the North, as well as starting to promote his own fledgling club night, Oasis. It went from strength to strength and was soon selling out every event. This enabled him to introduce some of the biggest names in the hardcore scene to the local area. 

As Andy matured, so did his musical tastes, naturally progressing into trance, then progressive trance and house. Andrew quickly got into the techier and melodic sound, championed at the time by the likes of John Digweed, Sasha & Danny Howells. 

He started producing music around 2000 with good friend Michael Burns (Blue Haze/Panoptic) and in 2001, was lucky enough to work with another good friend, Chris Scott (Lexicon Avenue/Echomen) The result was the track "Dark Light" under the Indaba guise. Later signed to Prolekult, it featured on Danny Howells’ Renaissance The Masters mix, DC-10 Ibiza – The Album Part 2 as well as receiving big support from the scenes major players. 

Releases soon followed this on Confi-Dance and Minimal Records, again with Michael Burns under the Gazor guise. Tracks like 'Stabilized' & 'Overlight' were well received, featuring in the charts and playlists of DJ's the world over. Through the years, Andrew's tracks and remixes have been supported by the likes of Cattaneo, Warren, Moudaber and Oliver Schories to name a few.

In 2013 Andrew and Mike launched the 'You Belong' brand and held parties in Newcastle and Durham, hosting Lexicon Avenue, Ian Ossia, Dave Seaman, Funk D'Void and Echomen amongst others.

Today, Andrew doesn't like to tie himself to any particular musical genre, with varied and eclectic tastes, something which is reflected in his DJ sets and Productions. The basis is still very much on the melodic sound but you will find elements of a lot more throughout his portfolio.
