this mix is a love letter of sorts to yetep and his 'lɹᴉפ ʎW ǝq' (february mix), which was what got me started djing in the first place. i'd always loved how simple yet emotive his mixes were, and that mix was really the one that solidified my conviction that being a dj didn't have to be about making crazy edits or mashups - it could be as simple as compelling storytelling and good song selection. yetep will probably always be my strongest musical inspiration haha

the third ILLENIUM mix I've put out so far, and a conclusion to the end of my own little trilogy mini-series with "asc|end", "kindling", and now "scorched earth". no artist feels so uniquely personal to me the way illenium does - i've seen him more than 50 times, across 7 states, over the last 7 years. i think back to the first time i saw him, the first summer out of high school, and how different he was back then, and how different i was back then. his music is so deeply intertwined with my youth and so many of my core memories - seeing him with high school friends at bill graham, road tripping to an arizona show with my big sis and little from college, flying out to miami with med school friends to catch him at ultra.
i've seen him with so many of my loved ones in so many different places, and when we've grown old and apart i'll always be able to come back to these mixes like a time capsule and remember these moments we shared :)
