Funking Discohell

Chiqito (real name Acsai Attila) from Budapest is the latest artist to join the I'm A House Gangster ranks, with his four track 'History Of House' release.  At just 26 years of age, it's a bold statement from the Hungarian producer, but one which he more than justifies across the four tracks with strong classic Chicago influences shining through.  History Of House and Ravers Hipsters track are characterised by jacking beats at faster tempos and twisted vocal samples, while Build It Up and Money go deeper and darker, but retain the funk and old school sounds.

Chiqito says the EP was influenced by the old school sound, with a focus on the House Gangster ethos of not pandering to current trends.

As with most House producers, Chiqito started out DJing and making music as a hobby before developing into something more serious when, at the age of 18, record labels started taking interest in his work.  An initial signing to Colorswork Recordings paved the way for releases on Deeperfect (Stefano Noferini's label), Toolroom Records (Mark Knight) and Stereo Productions (DJ Chus).  Support has flooded in with plays from Loco Dice, Carlo Lio, Alli Borem, Hector Couto, Richie Hawtin and DJ Sneak among many others, culminating in a number of high placing tracks in Beatport's sales charts.

Although this is Brian's first album he is a storied producer and a staple on the Detroit scene having previously released on Planet-E, Craigie Knowes, We Play House, FXHE & Berettamusic. Indeed he is a hugely respected figure within the scene and quite rightfully so.

His productions are full of depth, soul and energy, an exciting tapestry of all that is brilliant with the Detroit scene as Brian reverently joins the dots between the icons and originators and where Detroit is right now.

Timeless is a 19 track collection spread across four records and featuring legends like Mr. V, Milton Jackson, Jon Dixon, OB Ignitt,
Luke Hess, Taho, Mesha Monique, RBJ, and many more. It also has one of the most incredible special edition boxes we've laid eyes on, it's a total bargain at $78 and there are only a handful available.

East Londoner Max Sinàl has been playing and releasing music under various names since starting out on pirate radio 25 years ago.

Since then he's done the lot - regular slots at Fabric, Koko, Space Ibiza and Potato Head Bali to name a few, not to mention Glastonbury, We Out Here, Bestival, Secret Garden Party and many more.  Max is also half of the live duo 2fox who have surpassed 20 million Spotify streams and will soon be sharing new remixes from names as illustrious as Louie Vega, Soul Clap and Tommy Musto.

After Soul Quest Records - a label he co-founded with two friends - released his 'Intentions' track as part of the 'Maintain Altitude' six track V/A EP.  In its original guise, it was the result of a joint musical adventure from Sinal, producer and longtime collaborator Kingcrowney and vocalist Liv East. 

The track returns this week with a slew of top remixes from Frits Wentink, JT Donaldson and Flying Moth, with a live version to boot, and to celebrate its imminent arrival he's taken to the decks to roll out an exclusive mix for Juno Daily

Running both 803 Crystal Grooves and Berlin record store Elevate, Cinthie has become a key figure in today’s house scene. Often called the Queen of Berlin house, she plays all over the world at some of the most respected clubs and festivals. Vinyl collector since 1995, she builds DJ sets that connect New York, Chicago and Berlin. In the studio, her tracks have landed on Heist, Aus Music, and her own label. Her album Skylines – City Lights (2020) and DJ-Kicks mix (2022) cement her status. A rarity in the genre, she also performs live machine sets at events like Sonar and Mutek. She signs our 271th mix.

It was a very special warm night in Ibiza when we hosted OpenLab x Pikes Presents at 528 Ibiza

Ron Trent had just left an ecstatic crowd applauding in the amphitheatre so no pressure for Ralph Lawson opening up the club inside straight after!

Being a radio station we always like to record and stream when possible so the recorder was firmly in place to capture RL Live at 528 for the first ever time.

Marlon is a British DJ and producer based in London renowned for his "slightly spacey, casually jazzy, and fully groovy house music."

He's spun in some of Europe's best venues, including PIKES in Ibiza and fabric, as well as providing remixology support for names as illustrious as Kyle Hall, Jimpster, S.A.M and Cezar Lazar, not to mention an EP on Phil Weeks' legendary Robsoul label. His latest production sees him reworking Colm K ft Elaine Dowling's 'Basics', out earlier this month, and to celebrate that - as well as for the general hell of it -he's done us a cracking mix of his favourites, old and new.
