When we first started our Mixtape Series, little did we think that we would continue onto 50 Episodes, never mind recruit some of the best talent around to be part of it. The series has certainly evolved beautifully and it must be said that it's a true honour to have some of our biggest heroes and selectors joining us too. For our 50th Episode we have a very special interview and guest mix for you. We welcome the incredible and amazing Steve Bug.

His relentless commitment to quality - both in his own work and in the many producers he has championed - has made him one of the world’s most revered artists and curators, and along with his labels Poker Flat, Sublease Music, Audiomatique, Dessous Recordings, Traffic Signs or Raw Elements, has made a sizeable contribution to building the European house and techno scene as we know it. Outside of his own labels, Steve has released on Bedrock, Knee Deep In Sound, Minus, Cocoon, Defected and various others.

From catching the Ibiza bug at 13 after Channel 4’s ‘A Short Film About Chilling,’ Clara Da Costa set her sights on the White Isle. By 15, she was warming up for Carl Cox and making waves at Es Paradis as Ibiza's first female DJ (then known as Miss Bisto). Over the years, Clara has become a pivotal figure in the island’s scene, championing events at epic venues like Pacha, The Zoo Project or Carl Cox’s Music Is Revolution, including the historic closing of Space.

Clara is also known for seeking out new talent alongside established talent to push and release on her imprint, she is a true supporter of the underground and vinyl community. This year Clara celebrated 32 years in the scene and 15 years of her Jack's House radio show that also champions independent artists and labels playing a weekly selection of up and coming release.

Her global tours and successful vinyl label, Jack’s House, have solidified her as a key player in underground house music. With accolades like Best Ibiza DJ at the 2018 Ibiza DJ Awards, Clara’s relentless passion for innovative beats and new talent keeps her at the forefront of the dance music scene.

Episode 72 of the Gangstercast is a live recording from Output Club in Brooklyn, orchestrated by the US house duo Cocodrills. Christian "Pridef" Diaz and Adam Cruz pride themselves on creating a unique musical experience, which can only be just that; experienced. But make sure to leave your pretense at the door 'cause you won't find any bullshit at one of their parties; only funky grooves, positive vibes and rampant debauchery. 

When speaking to the guys we asked what house music means to them, they answered “sick beats, positive vibes and just a general way of life”. They went on to say ‘The House Gangster movement is beyond just music and more of a state of mind. It's about how you carry yourself and your overall taste in things”. Whilst the duo had a broad idea of what style of music they wanted to include in the mix, “ultimately everything is chosen on the fly”.
