Born in 1983 in South of France, Amine Edge is known as one of the symbolic figures of the "G House" movement. Basically called "Gangsta House", the name of this movement comes from the special atmosphere this music just kicks away: here comes another vision of the House music, a stunning combination between Funk’s deep basses and inspired by the latest 80s Hip House movement.  Together with production partner DANCE they are amongst the most prolific artists right now and have released music for Love Not Money, Neim, LouLou and 2DIY4 amongst countless others.

Amine Edge & DANCE live and breathe the House Gangster movement: "It's an attitude and a respect to our roots, real MEN who play real sh*t, not playing bad music to buy a ferrari and destroy the ears and the culture of the kids. With his three track ‘Hustler Stomp’ release currently blazing hot on the I’m A House Gangster label, Sidney Charles drops by with an equally hot mix for the Gangstercast.  The mix features 80 minutes of Sidney’s trademark jacking, stomping and booty shaking house, just the way we love it at HG HQ.

Born as Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans in Hamburg, Germany, Sidney’s introduction to music was through the magic of two 1210s spinning Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Breakbeat and Turntablism, before transitioning to the faster BPMs of House and Techno and the culture which accompanied dance music.  Sidney is clear to state that he is not a musician, nor a percussionist, but a collector. A collector of culture and experiences.

Speaking of the I’m A House Gangster sound, Sidney comments, “It’s pumping, raw house, mainly influenced by funk and hip hop orientated samples. The sound represents a certain state of authenticity and realness. As the House Gangster style points out, House Music is not only music, its a way of thinking, acting and living. In the words of Mike Tyson, "If they pay me enough, I'll get in the ring with Jesse Perez". Legend tells it that Jesse, the latest addition to the I’m A House Gangster camp, was born in a rundown motel in Little Havana (a small Latin neighbourhood in Miami) just minutes after being conceived. Son to a local pimp (who is oddly 10 years older than Jesse), Jesse was exposed to the art of Slangin' D as a young boy. His mother, who at that time was a stage dancer for a popular local rap group called the "2 Live Crew", would work many shows for these artists and would sneak Jesse in as often as she could. Jesse's first exposure to Bass Music and Ass Clapping made a huge impression on him. 

15 years later, Jesse applied his childhood experiences towards the development of a new visionary company known as "Mr. Nice Guy". Considered as one of Miami's most promising and forward thinking companies since Bang Bros. Jesse has managed to not only run this company but also star in several successful "Mr. Nice Guy" films including "Slangin' That D", "Tales From An 8th Street Motel" and "This Hoe Gonna Get Some Dick". Homeboy don't mess around, he means business.

Talking about his tracks for his debut I’m A House Gangster release, Jesse comments, “I made these tracks solely for listening pleasure while getting pleasured, so it's cool the rest of the world will now get to enjoy them as well. No Ghost-writers were used in the making of this EP.”

A true veteran of the House scene, it’s a real pleasure to have Johnny Fiasco join us on the Gangstercast.  For more tun 20 years, Johnny’s music has stemmed from his grounded Chicago roots and continues to influence the deep house genre of dance music. From acid house down to organic soulful melodies, his style is always composed of musical peaks and valleys. Johnny has remixed some of the world biggest musical stars including Justin Timberlake, Bob Sinclair, DJ Sneak, Armando, Bassnectar, Kaskade, Paul Johnson, Samantha James and Soulstice just to name a few. Ask Johnny about his career and his passion for House is so strong he’ll tell you he’s just getting started.

Johnny’s mix is a real journey through house music: ”This mix has all the peaks and valleys I always try and deliver.  It's been a very productive year so far. I wanted to showcase new and old. From the deep n dirty vibes down to the core of acid house. The last track has always been a favorite of mine, a very jazzy downtempo cut I've played for almost 2 decades, still sounds fresh.”

The Chicago DJ and producer also has his own unique take on the House Gangster ethos: “I believe the movement is all about keeping the fundamental rules in place but not limiting your experience.  It's about knowing what is real… and what isn't. The House Gangster movement in my eyes represents the very core of House music. It's all about the incredible driving force that inspires, drives and excites that person who goes to a club and knows what they're looking for.  We would always choose a hot sweaty basement with a room full of people connecting with the DJ over any flashy club with table service. No contest. Ever.

Eric Galaviz and Brian Varga, better known as the DJ / Producer duo Hipp-E and Halo, joined forces 15 years ago after realizing they shared many common musical interests. The H Foundation was born.  Here and now in 2014 they have just released their album ‘Passage’, a collection of their finest moments from 1999-2004, through DJ Sneak’s imprint Magnetic Recordings.  And to mark the release they’ve put together a brand new mix for the Gangstercast. 

The guys explain, “This mix is a small taste of some of the tracks and artists that we are into and what you would hear in our DJ sets from begging to end. We carefully choose the tracks in this mix so that people could get a feel and taste of what you would hear if you came to the club to see us play.”

H Foundations’ dedication to House music has always been evident and of their relationship with the music they simply state, “House music has a felling that touches your soul that moves you.”  About the House Gangster music they add they view it as, “Dirty House Music infused with a taste of Chicago. DJ Sneak is a brother to us, he has been in the game for a long time and has inspired so many artist there's not a lot of Old School House heads doing what he's doing and we have so much respect for him.

If there was a house DJ in America who could accurately claim to be the most important house DJ working today, it would be Doc Martin. But then, Doc would never accept such a title even if it happens to be true, because Doc is not only a legendary talent but a legendarily humble man. It is therefore with great pride and respect that we finally welcome Doc Martin to the Gangstercast for two solid hours of low rider funk.

Doc Martin’s live sets truly bring people together. The variation in his style of music is endless. What makes him so different from the rest? A unique ability to spin everything from deep house vocals that have much depth and meaning to us all in some way, to his funky tribal bass lines mixed with threads of acid, his passive collection of classics rare records that are only to be heard at his gigs.  When asked about what House music means to him, Doc’s opinion is one to take note of, “It's something that I became obsessed with in 86,and still am to this day. What other music has truly brought people from all over the world together. It put me on a different path emotionally, logically,and spiritually. I'm forever indebted to it.”

His viewpoint on the House Gangster movement is similarly wise, “What's fascinating about the whole House Gangster thing is that it goes beyond just one style of music. I see people from all styles of music,and different backgrounds who are into this. A community of people who are music first. On the outside looking in you would think it's just about banging beats. I think it's more of an attitude of pushing underground sounds from the past,and future. Skills are required for that, but also understanding of the music you are playing. People tend to play it safe but that isn't playing is it.”

Doc Martin has developed the respect as a house DJ that so many of us admire. It is this respect that keeps him constantly touring around the globe.  Doc’s association with DJ Sneak extends back for years and the duo continue to delight audiences with their 4 deck 2 mixer sets.

Speaking of his mix for the Gangstercast Doc comments, “This mix was recorded live at an underground in LA called Oxygen. The vibe was very good that night. I like a bit of everything.The sets that I enjoy are the ones, where I get to flow between styles. This [recording] was one of those nights.  One thing that I try to do is get caught in the moment. No planning mixes ahead. Just jump in feet first and trust yourself with what you do. Know your music and create with it.”

Gangstercast 46 comes from the fabulous Honey Dijon. Based in NYC but Born and raised in Chicago; the home of house music, Honey is known for her unique take on the Chicago sound with inflections of the deep New York underground. Honey is one of the few DJ’s in recent years to defy pigeon-holing. She draws from a wide repertoire of musical styles from old school Chicago House, disco, tech house, tribal, funk, soul, and R& B. She has graced the tables from Ministry of Sound London to Ushuaia Ibiza, Panorama Bar Berlin, Stereo Montreal and everywhere in between. She has also shared the decks with none other Danny Tenaglia, Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, The Martinez Brothers, Satoshi Tomiie, and Quentin Harris. 

Like many involved in the scene, her love affair with music began upon hearing her parent’s soul and r&b records at home. Soon she wanted to be the one dropping the needle on the record whenever they held parties in the family basement and the lure of club life soon followed. Before long she was obsessively collecting her own music from record stores, which is where Honey met and formed a long lasting friendship with Derrick Carter, who became a mentor. It was he who introduced her to the underground of Chicago where she was exposed to the sounds of jacking house and Detroit techno. 
After relocating to New York City, Honey also met another music giant Danny Tenaglia, whose legendary sets at Twilo were also a major source of inspiration. “Danny heavily influenced my sound as a DJ’, says Honey. “The drama of his delivery and risk taking always informed me of how I wanted to present music. Of course, Derrick and Chicago house were also very influential in my development as an artist, so it’s this combination of Chicago and New York that has helped me develop my signature sound.”

Known for her passion and integrity in her sets, this week Honey takes us back to the old skool sound, with this hugely authentic mix, fusing the bump of Chicago with more classic New York sounds and other European influences, dexterously flowing between house and techno, with a warm, hypnotic feel.

 The art of mixing itself is very important to Honey, and when telling us of the tracks she chose in compiling this mix, she explained; “I did a bit of research and did a bit of crate digging to try and give a bit of swing and soul but in a modern way.”

When explaining to us how this particular mix represented her as an artist, she told us; “Well being from Chicago, I wanted to mix a bit of my roots with what's happening in dance music at the moment. Since there has been a resurgence of House in Europe, I felt it was the perfect time to pull out a few forgotten classics.”

Being a firm believer in the underground sound, and being a protector of the faith, When asked what the House Gangster movement means to her, she replies; “I just feel it's a gang of like-minded people representing the love of house and paying respects to where it came from and to also where it’s going.” 
Honey describes the ‘House Gangster sound’ as “Boompty but with guts and soul! Also with a bit of a techy edge top to it”

Miami bad-boy Jesse Perez returns to the I’m A House Gangster stable bringing with him a box of dynamite cuts to annihilate the clubs this season!

‘This Ain’t No Rave EP’ comes armed with 3 Bass charged bullets; the title track is a straight up slab of Bass House, backed with pressure beats, toying with a Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock classic ‘It Takes Two’ sample to effect. 
‘Too Many DJs, Not Enough Hoes’ is a sassy Hip-House tinged groover, which tips it’s hat to the old skool, and is a prime example of Jesse’s cut up sample wizardry. 
Finishing off the package is the incessant groove of ‘Learn How To Spin’ -  lyrically giving a small dig to the laptop autopilot DJ generation, this bomb builds with Latin tinged percussive beats that give way to a bouncing bass lick.

Grammy Award nominated DJ/Producer Todd Terry has been engulfed in dance music since he first started listening to European dance music records while growing up in Brooklyn. More than any other producer, Todd Terry defined New York house during the '80s, his sound is a varied sampladelic collection, blending the sounds of classic disco, the more introspective Chicago sound plus plenty of hip-hop attitude. 
Much of Terry's early work, in the late 1980s, is considered a milestone in the development of both progressive and modern deep house, and with two of the most respected crossover remixes of the house era ("I'll House You" by the Jungle Brothers and "Missing" by Everything but the Girl), Terry more than earned his title "Todd the God" . Terry’s success has followed him through the years and today Todd is one of the world’s most celebrated figures in dance music. With almost Three decades of dance floor domination under Todd’s belt the quality of his productions goes from strength to strength
Terry produced the mix for Gangstercast 67 earlier this summer , he believes it to be one of his best old school/new school productions.  He’s picked  the tracks that he always play out in my live sets as they represent  the best type of  dance floor records, whether they’re are old or new. Terry likes to play as he puts it; ‘the best of both worlds’ meaning to play songs as well as hard tracks.
With Terry the House Gangster movement is all about the music , the raw swingy beats and good funky music.

Darius Syrossian let's the beat hit em where it hurts with his tasty 3 tracker debut, 'Tobasco EP', for I'm A House Gangster. 'Dombak' offers centre stage to a burly portion of chunky House beats, a squealing Sax stab and backed with a classic vocal hook to set the floor ablaze with euphoria. 'Body Talk' is a cross pollination of Tech and Old School Hip-House vibes burdened with pressure beats and a dark bass throb that underpin a host of 'now das wassup!' vocal hooks. Finishing off this tasty package and armed with a driving groove is the mighty 'Zaptrak', on which Darius treats us to a little early 90's nostalgia with proper old school rave breakdown, before slapping us hard with his fresh beat wizardry.

Pure and unadulterated House music has always been Darius Syrossian's pre-occupation in place of passing fads or zeitgeist defining trends. Tirelessly touring, remixing, producing as well as taking on new musical commitments has seen Darius catapulted from ‘the worker’s champion’ in Ibiza to an international brand that is a symbol of non-conformist DJing and a musical pigeon hole destroyer all rolled into one.  He teamed up with the Sankeys brand to relaunch the huge Tribal Sessions night where Darius’ position as Musical Director and main resident DJ saw it instantly become one of the best parties on the island in its first year. The annual clubbing awards in Ibiza voted it best night at Sankeys and Darius as best House DJ as well as DJ Mag's Best of British award for best resident DJ of 2014. This lead to a relaunch in Manchester and saw every show become a sell out. The same year his debut album hit number 1 on the album sales chart, which included 16 brand new productions mixed live at Sankeys Manchester on 1 of the CD’s. 

2015 is proving to be another huge year for Darius Syrossian, he's now played pretty much every major festival in the world, he really is non-stop and one who obviously loves what he's doing. Being an artist to stand up for what he believes in, and not one to be bullied by any club or promoter, in true House Gangster style Syrossian let the music do the talking after his public split with Sankeys this spring. This strong move did not slow him down a single beat as he has just completed a very successful summer with sell out shows around the world and top notch gigs in Ibiza including the Space opening, Kehakuma at Space, HYTE at Amnesia, and also his own brand new party & residency for DO NOT SLEEP with his brothers in arms Sidney Charles & Sante, which proved to be a roaring success!

With new music forthcoming on Hector Couto's Roush label, Sante's Avotre label, as well as launching his own DO NOT SLEEP label, he is most definitely one who is Hustling for House. Having Darius part of the IAHG family on DJ Sneak's ‘I'm A House Gangster’ label is a great treat! Mark Farina is a DJ and producer, known for his Chicago house, acid jazz and downtempo works and recently known also from house compilations, El Divinio. He is primarily identified with the house music scene in San Francisco, California, where he resides, but DJs widely around the world.

Gangstercast 69 bings Farina’s usual or unusual variety of underground chunky funky goodness to new listeners and old heads alike. For the mix he’s  selected  some goodies from his arsenal of new underground jammies with just a vibe in mind to fit this Gangstercast. 
For Farina the House Gangster movement mean  is about capturing the spirit of the days when there were true gangsters listening to house in chicago in the late eighties, a certain rawness, toughness, trackyness and attitude that combines into certain style of house.

DJ Nonfiction orchestrates Episode 73 of the Gangstercast. A 10 year resident at the world renowned club Focus in Newport Beach, and a regular addition to the LA underground warehouse scene. An established producer who has remixed for Cajmere, Green Velvet, Colette, Miss Honey Dijon. He also has Vinyl releases on Robsoul and Bump Music (Australia), and several digital releases on such labels as Cajual, Relief, Robsoul, Farriswheel, Lost My Dog, DJ Sneak's Oomph Recordings, Candy Music and more.

When speaking with Nonfiction we asked how this mix represents him as an artist and he answered, “this mix represents a lot of my influences and different styles that I like. Some of the new stuff, some of the older stuff, and then some obscure music that's a little more ‘left field’.  I like lot's of different sounds and styles of music, and this 2 hour mix encompasses that.”

One of the pinnacles of Chicago house music's '90s wave, Derrick Carter has been widely acknowledged as one of the better DJs of the world. With innovative productions, consummate technical skills and an effortlessly joyful attitude of rocking a crowd, his impact has infiltrated throughout the spectrum of dance music. Derrick began DJ’ing at the age of nine, spinning disco records at family reunions. Born and raised in the western suburbs, Carter was into music from a young age, but during his teens Chicago's house scene sucked him in for good. Before long Carter became a strong presence in the city's underground dance scene.

In a world obsessed with labelling an ever-evolving genre, Felix da Housecat is dedicated to making the people dance. He is one of those rare, charisma-oozing characters, whose musical and mental eccentricity come from a genuine place. He’s never afraid to take a risk to reach new ground. Kicking it old school back to the wonder days of early House is Carloh, who makes his hit I'm A House Gangster debut with 'El Dembow'. Built around an infectious vocal, 'El Dembow' is cut together with a retro house groove, built out of a plethora of sampled beats and treats. There's a massive bag of remix flavors to be devoured from the IAHG crew, including NYC's DBow who works up a tasty dub armed with a fierce bassline and Jesse Perez gets whizzy with the old school jackin' beats and rave sirens transporting us back to the late 80's. Chief Papi Chulo himself, DJ Sneak, cuts in with hi–hats, smashing out the Jackin beats with a hefty peak time dub dressed with a wobbly atmospheric bass line. Also on the release is the Hip–Hop fused 'Fuertes Seres' that's riddled with scratching, breaks and moody vocal stabs and underpinned by a incessant siren to bring the tension to the floor.

Inspired by the actual sound of the House, my music was recorded in the garage of my home with old records, dad's samplers and old school music cassettes - with this concept I wanted to go back to the past. – Carloh

From an early age, Carloh Quito of Ecuador showed his love and passion for music and was greatly influenced by the musical style of South America - folklore and music of the Andes. He started looking to fuse pre-Columbian musical instruments of Ecuador and for the authenticity of the sounds originating in the native land. He was influenced by his uncle and father, who were both dj's and taught him to mix turntables whilst learning congas and bongos. He later traveled to Europe and fell in love with electronic music and the rest is history. Carloh went on to create his own Latin fused flavors of House, Tech House and Techno and winning fans all over the globe in the process.

Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, the birthplace of house music, Johnson started making waves in the music community at the early age of thirteen. In the summer of 1984, Paul Johnson taught himself how to spin after watching his cousin Marc spin and scratch in his bedroom. As a self taught artist, Paul's pulsating energy and passion are apparent in all his work. In high school while his peers were holding down after school jobs, Paul was a popular radio DJ. Raw talent, dedication and a deep love for house music have made Paul Johnson one of the most sought after DJ's in the world.

When we sat down with Mikey, we asked how the mix represented him as an artist, Mikey replied with “I like to keep things lively and fun with a blend of deep, jack, soul and tech.”

Mikey went on to explain, what house music meant to him “House music is my life. It truly saved me so many times and shaped me into the person I am today. I knew a long time ago this was for me, regardless of my place in it. When you know, you know. It’s more than just the music it’s the way of life.” We then asked Mikey what the House Gangster movement meant to him, he responded with, “It’s a game changer. I love how it stays true to that proper, raw underground sound that a lot of people maybe haven’t been exposed too, that’s so important. It’s been crazy awesome seeing it grow so much over the years, and I think it’s just the beginning.”

Making his debut on IAHG is L.A. based artist/producer/songwriter Mikey V (Classic, Dirtybird, Cajual, Defected) with his ‘Can’t Fight The Feeling’ EP. Dropping on the 13th January, ‘Can’t Fight The Feeling’ features four original tracks of raw, funky tech house showcasing the signature production style that has led to DJ support for Mikey from the likes of Derrick Carter, Eats Everything, and Claude Von Stroke. 

The title cut blends funky, skippy beats, a nervous insistent synth and chopped up vocal snippets to great effect, whilst ‘Candy Flip’, the result of an extended jam on a Roland TR-8, takes a more old school electro-isn approach. ‘Everybody Freakin’ is a tribal/deep Prince inspired number - “My little way of saying thank you to one of the greatest artists of our time” says Mikey, and the skeletal ‘Crazy’ finishes off the package perfectly with its stripped-down garage beats perfectly framing the voice of Portland vocal talent Mena. 

This is a unique, idiosyncratic, future-tech take on the house music template, innovative whilst never losing its funkiness; perfect for 3am sessions in dark basements and perfect for IAHG. Mikey V: “Sneak has always been one of my biggest influences, so it's a great accomplishment to be on IAHG. The House Gangster sound encapsulates proper, dirty, underground vibes, and raw, bangin' beats infused with tech, reminiscent of the 90's Chicago jackin' sound that inspired me, along with so many others, to get into house music.” True dat. 

We’re looking forward to plenty more killer cuts from Mikey. In the meantime, ‘Can’t Fight The Feeling’ is released on IAHG on the 13th January.

Hector, born in Ibiza and Carlos, born in Majorca met after working as sound and light technicians for Pacha Ibiza in 2008. Soon afterwards, both realized that each had a mutual love and talent for music and decided to begin an after party in Ibiza. From the very first set played together in 2008, a great musical collaboration was discovered by successfully merging together each one's style. Since then, Hector and Carlos have joined forces to form 2Vilas. They began producing and within a very short period of time have already released tracks with record labels: Isgud Records, Bondage Music, Straight Music, Anhura Records and WetCellarRecords.

Next up on I’m A House Gangster is ‘Commandeered Kutz’, a blistering four tracker from Staten Island’s house hero DBow (Classic Records, InHouse Records, King Street Sounds, Good For You Records and Beatdown Music), dropping on Friday 12th May.
Following his killer remix of Carloh’s ‘El Dembow’ on IAHG in May this year, we had to get DBow (Danny Bowman) back on the label for a full EP of his own tracks. The ‘Comman- deered Kutz’ EP features four brand new originals in DBow’s driving, roughneck style and is a perfect fit for IAHG.

Lead track ‘Get Busy’ features a mean kick drum, relentless percussion, a rubbery bass and twisted vocal snippets, while ‘Give It 2 Me’ cuts up some 90s samples to great effect. As does ‘I Want To Feel’ which also adds extra layers of percussion. The final track is the high energy funk licks of ‘The Soul Break’ also featuring some more disco cut and paste along with a cheeky bassline sample. Four tracks, created by a DJ with a near- perfect feel for the dance floor, developed by years behind the decks, makes for a total of four dance floor destroyers.

From remixing for Todd Terry’s In-House imprint, to DJing all over New York for many years, whilst continually turning out quality house productions, DBow is a house music fiend for life: as he says, “Music is my life really - it’s basically my friend, my wife and my therapist.”
The ‘Commandeered Kutz’ EP is another welcome edition to the IAHG catalogue, and is simply, as DBow says: “that good, smooth yet rough, make-you-dance-at-the-club house music.”

Episode 96 of the Gangstercast series is brought to us by London based producer Riki Inocente. Riki is a pure self-taught producer, re mixer and DJ, his music has been moving dance floors all over the world for the last decade. He is forever experimenting new ideas drawing on the wealth of knowledge he has and life experience within the house movement, his releases include re mixes from DJ Sneak, underground label boss Hector Moralez and Grammy nominee, and house legend DJ Todd Terry.

Soon after Riki was introduced to DJ Sneak, ‘We Iz Underground’ was released on Sneak’s flagship label Magnetic with remixes from Hector Moralez and from the label boss himself. The record was produced by Riki Inocente and Darren Roach under the alias of 'Bluntz & Roachez’. Later that year they were asked to do a remix of one of Sneak’s original cuts 'Bodytalkin', a project he released on DJ Sneak Classic's label. In 2013, Riki dropped his first Gangstercast and now he’s back to deliver another.

When we sat down with Riki, we asked how the mix represents him as an artist, he replied with “Tough, dark and twisted, like me. I didn’t really choose the tracks, I just had a mix I know that all the tracks I have are bullets so I knew it was gonna turn out fresh.”

He went on to explain, what the House Gangster movement means to him “the House Gangster movement represents freedom of creativity, being able to be myself and be part of a family. That to me is what it’s all about, the bigger picture.  It is about being loyal to yourself, your supporters, and importantly, the music and its culture.”

Chris is one of those rare kinds of artists that have an omnipresent quality and yet do not seek to make their name bigger than the music itself. Releasing his first EP in 1994, he has over 20 years under his belt as a producer and DJ, with a huge back catalogue of releases. With all of that in his locker, Carrier remains ardent in his quest to create more and more classic material and is revered as one of the most prolific and gifted producers around today.

As a DJ in the early nineties Chris’ obsession with music led to gigs at some of the early techno raves, held illegally in warehouses around Paris. In these formative years he not only asserted his diversity, flowing effortlessly between techno, drum n bass, hip-hop turntablism and house, but he also invested a large amount of time and energy in collecting an equally electric range of music. His dedication to the art of DJing provided Carrier with a superlative skillset and the ability to adapt to a wide range of genres and environments, whether it’s a vinyl-only set in an intimate club setting or a live set at the legendary Rex or Weather festival.  
 
Besides his long list of high quality releases, and a myriad of influential labels (Adult Only, Chronobrain, Combustible, Taka, X86 and Sound Carrier, plus the more minimal-focused Adult Only Shape) that he has set up over the years, Chris’ recent achievements include albums on Apollonia – ‘Lotus Seven’ with Hector Moralez’ – and the solo LP ‘True Step Locomotion’ on Slapfunk, together with a seemingly endless flow of new music pouring out of his Paris studio.  Driven by an unrelenting pursuit to continue producing music of all genres and to carry on exploring the realms of his own musical imagination, Chris Carrier is an unstoppable force and undoubtedly a legend in his own lifetime.

When we do new episodes of the Gangstercast we like to do it proper, so for episode 4 we have one of the biggest characters in House music, Phil Weeks, and he's laid down no less than THREE HOURS of bumpin' gangster beats exclusively for the podcast. The mix is a live recording from 'Living Room' in Lugano, Switzerland, and presents the most raw taste of Phil behind the decks - funky, jacking and bumping grooves straight from the Chicago school of House.

When asked what House music means to Phil, his answer is simple: "I gave my life to this music since 1996, that should be enough said."  On the House Gangster movement he adds: "For me, it was a 100% positive move from DJ Sneak to create something to bring back motivation for all of us, the House lovers. It was created at a point when we were all feeling House music was slowing down and I was starting myself to get tired of all this new music called Electro, Minimal, whatever. House Gangsters have nothing to do with violence or gangster bad boys, it's just about fighting for the music we love."

Since 2000 Phil Weeks has released his unique brand of House music on some of the world’s leading underground labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Magnetic, Detour, Adult Only and his own highly regarded Robsoul Recordings, which is responsible for the majority of his original output.  Robsoul has been responsible for his three critically acclaimed albums - 'Yeah I Like That', 'Love Affair' and 'Raw Instrumental’ - and the label has released music by DJ Sneak, DJ W!LD, Chris Carrier, Joss Moog, JT Donaldson and countless others … all House Gangsters to the core!

PHIL WEEKS | GANGSTERCAST 04

Mark Farina, a true pioneer and long standing House Gangster is in the hot seat for episode 6 of the Gangstercast and we're extremely proud to have him on-board.  Mark's mixes are the stuff of legend and have seen him touring the globe as one of Chicago's best loved musical exports for many years. Now based in San Francisco, Chicago still provides his roots to the House Gangster sound, "For me, the House Gangster movement means capturing the spirit of the days when there were true gangsters listening to house in chicago in the late eighties. White, latino, black...the only sound of the underground in the streets was house music. The sound has a certain rawness, toughness, trackyness and attitude that combines into a certain style of house."

Regarding his Gangstercast, Mark says the tracks are, "Selected goodies from my arsenal of new underground jammies. No special planning though. Pick a starting point and go from there, with just a vibe in mind to fit this Gangstercast."

And his view on house music, you may just have heard it before: "In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared, "Let there be HOUSE!" and House music was born."

MARK FARINA | GANGSTERCAST 06

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Arturo Garces has been surrounded by dance music his entire life. The son of a serious collector of funk, soul and disco records, Arturo grew up listening to the roots of house music. These early influences are evident in his works as a DJ and producer today where his music has helped define the unique and emerging Silicon Valley sound.

Arturo has released music on both established & strictly underground labels including Robsoul, Cross Section, Magnetic  Oomph, Smoke City Music, Subliminal Soul, Sneak Classics and many more, not forgetting releasing on and working as label manager for Jump Recordings, Beat Bum Music and Resource Records.  He's also licensed tracks to high-profile compilations such as Fabric #62 mixed by DJ Sneak.

Regarding his Gangstercast, Arturo simply states that his mix is, "my vision of how a dance floor should get worked. The House Gangster sound for me is all about driving beats. A beat down if you will. It's all about movement on the dance floor. I pretty much picked out some tracks that were moving me at the moment. If I was on the dance floor, this is what I would want to hear."

He's a devotee to the House Gangster ethos, "The House Gangster movement to me is all about keeping the true house sound alive. House Music has always kept me moving in the right direction. I live this day and night 24/7. It means the world to me."
