I need to get better at sharing. Sharing is nice. But it's also scary! 

Be it George R.R. Martin or John Green, Katy Perry or James Taylor, I am continually changed by what others have to say. Yet I'm often too scared to contribute anything to this ridiculously open conversation. I want this to change! In order to conquer fear, you must confront it head on... (...right?)

Let's kick start this by explaining a bit about the track above. I  made this while trying to be Great Good Fine OK, an amazing band that you should definitely go and listen to. I adore their use of old skool sounds and lush pads - something that seems to be quite fashionable right now (I ain't complainin' !).

The timing in the intro section is weird. The hope was that when the hi-hats and bass come in, it makes you skip a little - then settle down. One of my favourite things is when you first listen to a song and you don't know where the beat is going to fall, and it invariably is the opposite of what you expected and it just flips you all over and makes you shout COOL! (just me?)

I also used old skool 808 drum machine samples, something I could picture them using. I find their sound-set so so fun, I really wanted to just play around with it and see what came out. (I used samples from THAT SOUND by the way, an amazing company if you're looking for really great drum samples - and who's name the title of this post is a reference to...)

It might have already finished by now - or it must at least be at that bit where everything drops out and it all comes in again full tilt. That bit is sick. (WAIT!)..(At what point do you cross the line from being proud to being cocky? It's probably when you call your own stuff sick isn't it. Never mind.)

ANYWAY what else? I also like plinky plonky pretty sounds so I grabbed the music box instrument from Native Instruments. That's about it!

I don't think it's the best thing in the world. I don't think it's even special. But it IS something. And it's something I like. And It's something I've made. And it's something I'm sharing with you.

I'm uploading something every month. You can thank Oh Wonder for that great idea. It won't necessarily be something that has the big final "FINISHED" stamp all over it, but it'll be something I've made that I want to share. It'll be accompanied by some sort of explanation as to why I made it, how I made it, or what it means. Like I said, sharing is wiked (bruv) and I think it'd be good for me to do more.
