After a slew of EPs and albums spanning the past decade, Grass Mirror's sound has slowly expanded and distilled into an inescapable sonic palette.

This new collection of 4 songs continues his exploration into syncopated rhythms and foggy atmospheres. Off-kilter synth wobbles and shimmering synth pads take us further into dripping caves of sound.

“Persuasion” examines the relationship between growing older and finding novelty in new and unexpected terrain. Inspired by recent readings, a reconnection with nature, and a new baby boy on the horizon, these tracks evoke a specific time and place in my life. Uncertainty has been a through line for quite some time now and I sought to use that tension to probe how it could be affected and altered by the tools at my disposal. The balance of tight breaks and vast, reverted pads created an atmosphere that captures how I’ve been feeling. A sense of melancholy and escapism, but broken up by moments of hope, discovery, and elation.

Dedicated to my wife Devon, an endless source of radiant positivity and affirmation.

Emerging from a misty Florida jungle, long-time duo Alien House step in with their much-anticipated LP ‘Flora’. An album that floats along like a spiritual awakening, ‘Flora’ sits in the multiplicity of several electronic genres and stylings while maintaining a sound completely its own. Following the success of their Above EP with Image Research in 2021, their latest offering takes us even further into the depths of their flourishing sound.

Brilliantly subtle and nuanced, each track unfolds like a blossoming flower under moonlit canopies. The synth work is gentle and emotive while the percussion hits like raindrops on lush forest leaves. The spaciousness and vastness of reverb-soaked melodies and chords ease the listener into meditative states while the drum sequences keep everything grounded and pulsing. Though each piece of this album shines completely on its own, it flows as one cohesive piece from start to finish. A vision of a different time and place appears with each listen.

From a sunset drive down a breezy Florida coastline, Evan Otero, aka ovan odero emerges with Gold Foil, a set of emotive tracks that look forward and back at the same time. Newcomers to the genre and old heads alike will come to find these songs unplaceable in the lineage of electronic music. Deep synths and stuttering rhythms lay the template for this breakout release. For the better part of a decade Adam Keilbach, aka Hotwax, has been producing soft, lush excursions at the cross-section of chillwave and downtempo. Over the years he’s honed this sound with releases on labels such as Vacant Magic, Elemental_97, Synth Records, 2060, SleeplessCollective, & Bad Pop. Each one is a step further into spacious synth sounds and crystalline rhythms.

His latest offering, the first for Image Research, brings together 5 tracks bursting with light and energy. Massive chord stylings set the backdrop for each track as crescendo arps and crisp drums fill the room. Vast and pensive pads meet airy textures as we soar above the clouds. Hovering above the hazy sheen of Los Angeles sits a prism of refracted light and mysterious energy. This is where we find ‘Phosphor’, the latest collection of songs from LA-based producer/wizard Glo Phase.

Through various sonic explorations, Glo Phase has been distilling their sound meticulously over numerous releases including his standout ‘Early Moments’ on 100% Silk in 2021. ‘Phosphor’ opens the same doors of cosmic perception even further. Chromatic synth structures stand like statues on vast technicolor dreamscapes. Swinging, tumbling percussion deepens the flow as grooving, milky bass lines pour over top. Every sound vaguely familiar, a lost recollection, flickering in and out of the frame. Yet, there is still something so undeniably fresh and emotive about these tracks, blending comfort with the unknown.

"Portland producer Hunter Thompson's latest LP offering as Akasha System is both a distillation of and divergence from his elegantly illusory eco-tronica. Inspired by extensive desert treks up and down the west coast, the album's nine tracks sway and shimmer like horizon line mirages, enigmas of motion and distance, wavy and widescreen: Geomind.

Thompson cites scenes of “desolate terrain, spectrum sunrises, and strange sightings in the vastness of the sky” as mood board reference points, which translate in the album's spaciousness and surreality, sculpting glassy synthetic currents into rhythmic voyages of futurist melancholy. Each song surfs its own strain of shadowy syncopated percussion, sidewinding beneath latticeworks of Kalimba, harp, and flute, flickering between dance music and dreamscape, and lingering at the threshold where one becomes the other."
