A DJ mix exploring music that is deep and emotive - music with substance. From ambient beginnings, it moves through psychedelic and world music influences as it picks up the tempo as it builds to a more danceable crescendo.  Quite different in style to my style up to this point.

Inspired by the frequent sounds of reggae at bars in Jogjakarta, I thought I'd have a go at making something dubby/reggae-ish, which is completely new for me.

Production-wise I've spent more time on this than anything I've ever done. I'm still not happy with it, perhaps due to being on a different setup and having nothing but headphones to mix in. Still so much to learn - but I'm now at the point where I've lost the ability to listen to this objectively, so for now it is time to move on.

This is rendered without any master channel processing. Any feedback much appreciated.

Imbibe's ‘The Shaman Awakens’ DJ mix is blend of deep, introspective house music infused with desert house, progressive house & breaks, psybient beats and melodic techno. Recorded live at an epic house party, this is a proper journey in which the energy ebbs and flows, guiding you through ethereal melodies and organic sounds from around the globe. At just over 4 hours long, this is an invitation to dive deep into the essence of sound.

A DJ demo recorded in around 2000/2001, starting off with some funky techno to more banging stuff at the end. I'd be been DJing for a number of years prior to this recording, but by the turn of the century I'd moved away from playing trance and progressive house into more tribal and techno sounds. This is the earliest recorded set by me that I know of. I burned a bunch to CD-R, printed up some stick-on covers and handed them out to friends and local promoters. Rarer than hen's teeth - until now.  Crank up the volume and get loose.

Marky - Funky Techno Demo Mix (circa 2000)

A DJ mix recorded live at E.M.P. - a night of eclectic electronica at Shadows in Canberra, Australia. The mix starts off with acidic shamanic breaks, moves through progressive house and ends up with techno. It was quite a ride. Also features the debut of my own track, "Fear".

DJ Set @ E.M.P Shadows (2025-02-21)

I had the absolute honour of playing the closing set for the 2024/2025 summer season of Spangled Drongos. It was a chance to showcase some of my diverse musical influences while taking the crowd on a real journey. Over 2 hours+ I blended hypnotic house rhythms, tribal percussion, and deep, world-influenced moods, dropped a few classic reworks, a few breaks tracks, a touch of acid, and even included 3 of my own productions, too, including the global debut of my original track "Mind Body Mantra".

Imbibe @ Forest Life Ep1:Dawn

In Aug 2025 the fabulous Zala invited me to join her and Squishy B to bring our tune selections to the chillout tent at Dragon Dreaming festival's 2025 Warehouse Warm-up party. I was chomping at the bit to drop some deep vibes to an audience. It's been a while. I leant pretty heavy on the chill side, starting with some slow, deep ambient dubstep vibes and building up to more uplifting and mystical housey sounds by the end. It was a lot of fun to play, and the feedback was all very positive. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Imbibe Chillout Tent Mix at Dragon Dreaming 2025 Warehouse Warm Up

An unexpected phone call on a Saturday evening, a last minute invitation to DJ at a birthday party where the guest list is a who's who of people I used to see dancing at the club where I was a resident many years back. I knew this crowd. I knew this vibe. And with no plans, no time to prepare, to rehearse or to panic over what to play, I turned up and dropped this set. It was one of those nights where everything just flowed. Enjoy this uncharted journey through deep, uplifting progressive house and breaks.
