Brooklyn based producer and DJ Ryan Crosson makes his debut on FRNTR this October with his ‘We Can Only Ever Be How We Are’ LP. Moving away from the dance floor, the album has been in the making for the last ten years and sees Ryan evolving as an artist as he continues to explore and push boundaries through his experimental musical output.

The first single from the album ‘Night Train’ is released 1st September and features the musician Ryan Cavanaugh aka Slow Hands on guitar. Atmospheric guitar licks are layered over a sonic landscape made for slow appreciation. Cavanaugh has previously collaborated with Wolf + Lamb, R&S, Permanent Vacation and Delusions of Grandeur.

Even within the ultra-niche world of underground dance music, Scott Zacharias isn’t a household name. Those who have had the pleasure of seeing him play, though, don’t soon forget it. A founding member of Detroit’s Macho City crew and a yearly highlight of Movement weekend’s infamous No Way Back all-nighter, where he closes the ambient room with a palate-cleansing space disco set, Zacharias values quality over quantity in his DJ bookings, and he consistently plays records that cause even the most itinerant record nerds to peer into the booth looking for an ID. The Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic couldn’t be any more excited to host him as part of his week of broadcasts from Detroit – tune in for what’s sure to be a glorious DJ set, live from our Motor City studio.

Erika is the kind of artist who can make the ground crystalize underneath your feet, sending shivers throughout every tender nerve. Also known as one half of the renowned electro act Ectomorph, she has been deeply entrenched in the Detroit scene since the emergence of her revered Interdimensional Transmissions imprint in 1994. We at UNRUSH are honored to provide this time-honored pioneer and experimentalist the space to make some selections from the other side of her record bag. A chilling selection, indeed.

With a style forged in the ’90s Midwest rave scene, Patrick Russell(@ptrckrssll)'s Detroit-bred origins are still very much on show today. Now based in New York, he has found a harmony between retaining his acid-driven musical influences and broadening his palette towards the deeper and more psychedelic. A @thebunkerny resident and Labyrinth (@mindgameslaby) Festival regular, and still a key figure of Detroit’s famed No Way Back parties, Patrick has gained what borders on legendary status within the international electronic music community through a combination of integrity, hard work and uncompromising ability to weave storytelling into his work as both DJ and producer. 

Like many artists, his recent selections have ventured away from the dance floor – with the COVID era offering a freedom of exploration that’s on full show in his Patterns of Perception 76. Of the mix, Patrick says: “For some time now, I’ve been sitting on a number of tracks around the 75/150 BPM axis that I’ve been dying to play, and wanted to do so without venturing into full-on techno or electro. This seemed like the right opportunity to present them, and also throw in a few curve balls while I was at it. Challenge accepted.”
