The outstanding multi-instrumentalist, producer and inspirational music director who has worked with international greats such as Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Craig David, Stevie Wonder, Shaggy, The Maestro Kojo Antwi, and many more shares his gratitude for life, nature and love with his debut jazz release.

ASEDA means gratitude in the Akan language of Ghana, and this song is the perfect representation of that feeling and the positive attitude that resonates in the country and its
people.

The tranquil melodies of ASEDA are rich and uplifting. It is beautiful, praise-worthy music to give thanks and praise to the Almighty and the kind souls all around us. Its masterful harmonic complexity is testament to the years Kwame has taken to master his craft in humility, and his extensive experience in delighting audiences worldwide with his upbeat, joyous performances.

The song’s composition is inspired by Kwame’s dynamic life journey and his sincere gratitude for the blessings that have been showered upon him. Born in the smoky lab behind laptop cables 🔌 and recycled materials ♻️, it finds beauty in the broken and the discarded. These elements are transformed into instruments or glitches, recreating those unsettling moments of reality—but with depth, something almost beautiful, if not for the ripple on the surface that reveals the fragility of human existence 🌊.

The majority of the album is created using a unique technique where we literally blend three instruments in layers to form a sound that bridges the voices of a harmonica 🎸 and a dobro 🎻. At times, you’ll think you hear the dobro, but it shifts into the harmonica; other times, the dobro seems to merge with the voice 🎤. This shifting is our way of exploring the fluid, ever-changing nature of perception. Reality is never static; anything can change in an instant ⏳.

In January 1978, Sun Ra brought a quartet to Italy. He bought himself a Crumar Mainman keyboard, then made two double albums in Rome. His new drummer, Luqman Ali, had been in the Arkestra in Chicago; Sun Ra hadn’t brought a bassist, so programmed some keyboard ostinatos; his trumpeter, Michael Ray, broke into stratospheric runs, battling John Gilmore in furious improvisations. Gilmore was closer to Coltrane now than ever been and they fittingly made a driving version of ‘My Favorite Things’. But laments like ‘When There Is No Sun’ are equally inspired.
