i can't believe it's been almost a month since i posted a sound. two weeks on tour in japan along with the prep before and catch-up afterwards drained me.

the time in japan with my friends was inspirational and highly productive. live concerts, acoustic recordings in forests sandwiched between the ocean and mountains. ghostly recording sessions in quiet cabins. a lot of music was made and listened to and i've needed the time to process and re-collect.

but i'm back with something entirely different than what i've been making in the last few weeks. we've got here a rather synthetic entry as i'm exploring the latest addition to my modular setup: pamela's workout.

pamela's workout is a highly flexible 8-channel clock generator that can quickly become the heart of a rhythmic system. here i've got two channels controlling the X and Y clocks of a rene sequencer which sequences a verbos harmonic oscillator and controls a make noise optomix low pass gate which acts as an envelope and vca.

the resulting sequence is run through a make noise echophon whose feedback path is running through an intellijel VCF making the whole thing sort of saturated and resonant.

today's sound uses the exact same patching as yesterdays, with only a chance to the clock divisions coming out of pamela's that feed rene.. as well as some different pitch settings on the verbos harmonic oscillator and filter settings on the intellijel vcf.

a perfect example of how just a few tweaks of a patch can take it into totally different territory.

at the end of this one i engage the "freeze" function on the echophon which captures the delay in a loop as a fade out the dry signal, leaving only the looped/frozen portion of the feedback path.
