Brief Bio
 
The Immigrantz - a hiphop duo that Started in 1993; it's conception was inspired by the struggle that Polynesians went through in the late '60s-'70s. From relaxed immigration laws due to a booming NZ economy and it's lack of factory workers; to using Polynesians as scape goats due to over populated area's increased crime and a decline in the NZ economy. Cupped with the cultural shock and possible loss of identity; for example, being labeled a coconut while living in New Zealand then being called a weak Kiwi or Palagi while on visit in the islands.
 
From it's start in 1993 the founder of the Immigrantz David Leo started the band enlisting his friend Sosh a.k.a Skyhai; Yung CUAh to join the the group. David's family in the tradition of their ancestors migrated to Australia in search of a better life. The band split up leaving Skyhai together with his twin brother Willie to reignite the Immigrantz, performing at bars around Auckland and later becoming one of the prominent entities in the D1 Entertainment family 2003 - 2004. In 2004 Willie "Sundown" Kailahi passed away leaving a hole in the Hip Hop act..The vacancy was quickly filled by the twin's cousin Ridvan a.k.a Yung Quest / Riz who was already in a group - "Usual Suspects" making an honorable move with a decision to take up the mantel, completing the Immigrantz.
 
As current, the Immigrantz consist of two members Riz from the North Shores of Auckland and Sosh from West Auckland who write conscious/current music that talk about issuses, life experiences and daily affairs. With witty abstract lyrics and colabaration with one of New Zealand's top music producers Dom a.k.a D1 the Immigrantz compile a 6 track offering for their fans and public; an E.P granted to receive some notable accolades. Listeners should be expecting fat beats, catchy hooks and a connection to some of the stories told in the music. This is only a taste of what is to come before the end of the of 2012.
