A short bio:
Homicide is a Defunct hip-hop outfit from Bandung, Indonesia. Homicide is not only pioneering the real hiphop sounds in Bandung and maybe in Indonesia, they're also marked as one of the most significant groups Bandung ever produced. They combined street battle verses with political consciousness and punk rock ethics, backed with musics that deep rooted in the tradition of New York's jeep beats and avantguard's fearless noises. With influences ranging from Rakim to Marvin Gaye, Public Enemy to This Heat to The Last Poet to Crass and Neurosis, they're also known for their dedication in local activism and democratic grass root movement, no wonder if they're thightly connected to the local punk/HC scene and local resistance network as well. They didnt only save Indonesian hiphop scene from the bling-bling storm but also calling out an insurection during Suharto's regime. Being hated by zealouts from a number of organized religions they lived their words to the fullest (a bio taken from a Subciety Records' Press Release).

Lalu-lalang kendaraan mulai jarang terdengar. Satu-persatu kawan mulai tidur dan bersiap dengan urusan masing-masing. Rokok juga tak banyak yang tersisa. Kopi hanya tinggal ampasnya. Ini artinya sudah lewat tengah malam. Aku harus melirihkan suara nyanyianku. Tetanggaku pernah melempariku dengan kerikil sembari memuji dengan nada tinggi, “Suaramu bagus mas, kurang keras!”.

Kini, yang tersisa cuma aku dalam sepertiga malam yang hening.

Konon, sepertiga malam adalah waktu paling mustajab untuk berdoa. Dulu kukira alasannya adalah jumlah hamba pesaing yang minim, tapi kukira bukan itu. Pada waktu ini ada keheningan, yang padanya seluruh emosi terasah menajamkan diri. Rasa sepi, marah, kecewa, rindu, gelisah, dan kadang syukur seolah menguat berkali lipat di sepertiga malam. Mungkin untuk mendapat doa yang mujarab kita memang perlu jadi emosional.

Namun saya jarang berdoa. Emosi yang luap akhirnya mewujud jadi lirik dan nada yang sekarang menjalar ke kuping anda. Semua lagu itu, saya ciptakan di sepertiga malam dengan cara bergumam. Selamat mendengarkan, Gumam Sepertiga Malam.
