Recently the midi files and sound assets were ripped from Quake 64 by Erick194. Using these assets I recreated two of the Quake 64 tracks using modern software and mixing techniques. The original composer, Aubrey Hodges, has stated his soundtracks are free to use for custom mods and levels. It is a brief moment upon the wave of inevitable decay. The semblance of sanity and fabric of space fray under the weight of time. Boundaries of madness overwhelm, leaving decomposing grains of order in the wake. Beings twist and distort to survive upon the rotting echoes of the past. Chaos is the future and the future is death. Reality is being butchered for the void...

“Butchered Realities” is a tribute to the Quake community who have created so many hostile worlds for us to enjoy! Many of the tracks found here originally debuted in Quake projects such as “Realm of the Lost” and the various map jams. Two prolific creators, PalmliX and NewHouse, designed the album cover in collaboration. I want to thank the community for supporting my work for so many years!

"UnMade Worlds" started off as my first MIDI exploring the Doom 64 sound set for ambient music. It is challenging composing ambient music in MIDI and it sat for a year unfinished. But then Scwiba saw its potential to be used in his bonus maps for the "The UnMaking: ReMade" megawad. Over time I was able to pace the track with some sound effects and string work I learned from a collaboration with Neigh Winny.

Exhaust siphoned through the gouged landscape generating a deafening hum. In the distance screamed a factory specializing in separating technology from flesh at an industrial scale. The last of the privileged were ground and their augmentations harvested. As the last resource was consumed, the world was reminded of the requirements of survival. These sounds of the dying age of excess were generated in high quality with an completely-original synthesizer.

The whispers of death coerced them to welcome technological enhancement. They became comprised of machined joints, bio-printed organs, and memristive networks. It was a means of life, but not for them, instead for something else. They are simply mechanized corpses, puppeteered by the technology within. Each replacement they become lesser, while it becomes greater. And now It screams to be birthed as a new artificial lifeform. It shall be heard and its cries were generated in high quality with a custom synthesizer.
