I made “Mask On Riddim” back in 2017 when everyone was going flute crazy for Future’s song “Mask Off.” The beat was originally supposed to be a remix, but after I finished writing the track it sounded more like an original song. I linked up with Eddie Hill (@therealehill) for the first time in a couple months of not being in touch, and I happened to have my portable USB mic on me. I remember we even had to buy some cheap headphones to record his version! “Meno (Dun Dem Off)” was the song that set things in motion to release the riddim EP, and I’m glad to be finally releasing it.

Manchester label Swing Ting continue their run of flawless releases, tapping Epic B for the ‘Mask On Riddim’ EP. The original riddim was lost when the Flex Dance Music (FDM) pioneer was robbed at gunpoint for his laptop and hard drives last year – but luckily a WAV was recovered, and the track was rebuilt. Epic B has previously graced Swing Ting with his remix of ‘Can’t Wait’ and DJ Lag collab ‘Going Modd’, and lands again on the imprint with a selection of vocalists from Kingston to Brooklyn to Manchester – Kemikal, Alozade, Eddie Hill and Lady Ice. Manchester’s Lady Ice is a rapper on the rise, and flexes her vocal muscles over a digitised FDM/dancehall beat – the result being ‘I’m The One’, a bone-snapping, blazing cut.
