This song is in memory of my cousin Jaryd lovingly known as "Bear" who lost his battle with depression on August 4, 2020. Today - March 15, 2021 - would have been his 30th birthday.

I had started working on this song shortly after his death as a way to process everything, but I was never able to open the file and work on it again until the other day. It was definitely a challenge to face the reality that he is gone, but I really wanted to get it finished in time for his birthday. I'm glad I was able to accomplish that.

There are still so many questions that are just left unanswered and the hardest part is that he didn't leave any answers when he left. This project was sort of my way to figure out my thoughts and feelings about everything...all the questions I wish I had answers to...the things I wish I could tell him.

If you are having trouble with your mental health/illness, please reach out to someone, and KEEP reaching out until you get the help and support that you need. YOU ARE WORTH YOUR LIFE. Regardless of how you feel, you ALWAYS have value. You ALWAYS deserve love. You are NOT a burden. You are ALLOWED to make mistakes - and you are allowed to forgive yourself. YOU are the ONLY you that there is. And YOU add so much beauty to this world by being yourself. Please believe that things can get better, and you deserve to be here when they do.

In Loving Memory of my little brother Nickolas Jordan Jarzomkowski Washington who passed away on July 9, 2023, at 11:43 pm after a two-month battle with liver cancer. He was 24.

This song is a slightly edited cover of "For Baby (For Bobbie)" by John Denver. My mom requested I make a cover of it for Nick's Memorial service. She would sing this song to him when he was a baby and had to go to the hospital for procedures.

Words cannot describe the emptiness that Nick has left behind. Though, words also cannot describe the gratitude I have in my heart for my courageous and beautiful brother, and how deeply he cared for us all, even as he endured unimaginable pain and the difficult decisions he had to make towards the end.

Nick, You will be forever missed and always loved 💚

MOTIVATION

Music and art have always been an outlet to express myself and process my feelings. I've experienced depression since I was 18 and getting lost in a song or a project was always a good way to distract myself and create something beautiful out of all the darkness.

The balance between mental health and mental illness is very important to me. I've lost people to depression and it's a very heavy experience to process. I like to be open about mental health and mental illness because it's a reality for many people, and it's not something anyone should ever have to feel ashamed of.
