Imperial Audio brings you a new addition to their roster, IMP004 showcases newcomer to the label Outbound with the "Aphotik" single and remix on the flip from ARtroniks. 
This release shows how vast the sound of dubstep is at the moment, a scene that is still thriving and bringing new energy even after being scrutinised this past year.

Jon (Outbound) a 23 year old DJ/Producer and Mastering Engineer from Nottingham brings to the table a back catalogue of sounds with previous releases behind him, his music can only be labelled as his own. A very individual mix of organic percussion, relentless sub elements and sharp sometimes dark synth sounds are what you expect to hear in his tracks.

Outbound creates a vast soundscape throughout his productions, some very unique styles emerge forward especially in this particular track. Hard hitting percussion, system necessary bass and top notch production, it's understandable why "Aphotik" and ARtroniks remix are receiving so much support. J:Kenzo, BunZero and Korrupt are some of the many artists supporting and playing this release in mixes and on radio - if that's not a heads up of what to expect then take a listen yourself...

IMP004 - Outbound - Aphotik/Aphotik (Artroniks Remix)

Imperial Audio brings another underground artist forward with their fifth release, a label that is almost two years old delivers brilliantly produced Dubstep music from artists all over the UK and Europe.

DT lets us peer into his imagination with his first solo release. The Derby based producer, DJ and one quarter of Subconscious has been around for a few years, originally DJing Hip Hop or Drum and Bass he then started to produce and mix Dubstep around 2011.

Dan (DT) has a very recognisable style within his work, although being diverse in his ranges you can usually spot a DT track, sub bass plays a key element as you would expect in his music and he always brings something slightly unexpected to a track.

"Where's Reese" has a  "soundsystem" vibe about it progressing throughout the track, simple percussion, underlying bass­lines and then a spacey almost Trance inspired synth riff ­ all together equals brilliant production.

"Helix" brings back memories of a summer lost, something to relax to but even a good selection for the end of the night ­ everything's fits together nicely in this one.

"Reckless", this collaboration with CJBroad is excellently named, a "does what it says on the tin" kind of track, this one is perfect for the dance floor. A creative flow of pure Dubstep sounds roll throughout this track and the second "drop" makes everything a little more exciting, you can expect this in most DT tracks.

Imperial Audio brings another underground artist forward with their sixth release, a label that is almost two years old delivers brilliantly produced Dubstep music from artists all over the UK and Europe.

IMP006 brings Feonix, a north west based producer with a belt of releases behind him on labels including the incredible M.U.D and with dubs to immerse any crowd of dancefloor reverlers into the dark eerie world of 21 year old Jimmi's mind.

Squarefeet builds from below until the sub comes moving through you, the vibe progresses with delay infused percs and spacey keys to keep the ambience in the beast of Feonix' production. The name lives in the percussion giving any dance a different pattern to vibe to, alltogether a brilliant track.

The Wrench starts its journey with a deep synth and very tool-like percs in the beginning (hence the name we presume), then out from the darkness what can only be described as chainsaw type sound comes through the mix and finally reveals itself on the drop. This track is sure to get a rewind in our opinion.

IMP006 - Feonix - The Wrench/Squarefeet

Lancashire based and Manchester studied John Matrix is yet another newcomer to the expanding Imperial family, we welcome him to the label bringing his diverse sound to our palette.
John's style is derived and manufactured from the early drum and bass era of the nineties and tells us his influences include Metalheadz boss Goldie, Ed Rush and Optical, as well as absorbing style from other genres including house, breakbeat and jungle. Quoting the man himself his productions are influenced by dark menacing drums and atmospherics and we can clearly see that throughout his catalogue.
With past releases on Inna Riddim, Krypt and most recently our friends at Annihilate Audio John is injecting his unique sound into the bloodstream of the dubstep genre and community.

First on the EP is the journey that is "Brothel Creeper", instantly the temperature drops as it introduces itself, the percussion and atmospherics can only be described as haunting as well as the vocal sample.
A reese progresses through the track with all the cold, dark hits as the intro and a kick line to help keep you moving.

"Kilimanjaro" comes straight in with a pounding kick drum until the build, an almost tribal vocal comes into the mix and stays with us until the drop, a warming element to the track.
This one is definitely a mover, shuffling hats with rolling snares, all together a bouncy vibe but keeping to the dark dubstep sound John is known for.

Finally on the EP, Mr Matrix welcomes us to the even more “Darker Realms” of his mind with the release titled track.
The final track on this release is the harder of the three, bringing more mid range to the table including a well known sample on the intro (I’m sure you can place it).
With growls and resonating mids, out of this world percussion it keeps to the whole tribal/dark sound of the EP but also bringing an excellently executed head nodder of a track.

Altogether a very playable release, tracks that work well on a system and at home, John is an artist to watch this year, you will catch these tracks about this summer.

IMP008 - Obskure - Blessed EP

London based Nav’ debuted on Imperial Audio in 2011 with the benchmark LP ‘Imperialism’. His Tempus alias took a tempo boost into the regions of Drum and Bass, it was then that Obskure was born, continuing Nav’s journey through Dubstep and 140bpm.

The title track on the EP, Blessed, emerges from the East London jungle of Obskure’s mind, capturing the roots of Dubstep with a soft bird-call-esque intro and break beat percussion throughout. 

Conscious Mind introduces itself as ‘dangerous’ from the get go with rising, saturated mids. Smooth chords underly the gritty mid range and unstoppable sub bass, whilst the percussion keeps everything in focus and on track. 

Slowpoke is an instant look back to where Dubstep began, simple sharp drums are a guide through the journey of strings and chime-like notes which pick up the groove completing the retrospective look on this still relative and future-proof piece.

Lastly, DT gives us a look into Blessed, interpreted his way. As always with DT the sub bass is strong and the highs are crystal clear, it is finely edited and remixed with absolutely brutal weight to the low end.

IMP008 - Obskure - Blessed EP

Imperial Audio presents Bristol based DJ and producer Muttley, as he supplies the goods for our ninth release, in the form of his new Tamaki EP (IMP009). Consisting of 4 brilliantly produced tracks that provide all the right frequencies to shut down the dance. Expect big snares, deep bass and spacey, reggae influenced melodies. 

Legions kicks off the EP with a positive dub/reggae vibe that unfolds into weighty cauldron of bass, reminiscent of the likes of dubstep legend, Tunnidge, proving why Muttley is such a talented producer. Enjoyable variation and processing of the percussion and various sound FX. Legions would slot nicely into any dubstep set, providing a chest thumping bassline and steppy drum beat to get people moving. 

Next up, the eerie synths and machine-like style drums of title-track,Tamaki. Muttley introduces us to sci-fi, nintendo-esque melodies before they unfold effortlessly into the industrial sounding drums. Muttley supplies an abundance of murky basslines and rhythms on this EP but they are particularly impressive on Tamaki. As the track develops, the introduction of yet another cosmic melody adds an extra dimension and continues to evolve, even sounding a little middle-eastern at times, encouraging the listener to remain locked into this journey.

Muttley continues to impress with The People, starting off with a catchy, reverb soaked melody, he then introduces a smartly placed and processed vocal sample to set the vibe. Perfectly delayed percussion, big aggressive snares remain a common theme throughout the EP and throughout this track in particular. Muttley shows some really clever use of empty space allowing the individual elements of the track shine. Clever polyrhythms between the kick and bass patterns are the core of this track and really drive it forward and trigger an irresistible head-nod throughout. 

Enemy begins with an atmospheric introduction, consisting of more spacey, synthesised sounds and great use of reverb. The manipulation of space and control of frequencies in the mix, as seen throughout the EP, is a big attraction. The percussion on Enemy is much more prominent compared to the other songs, featuring various clever one-hits, clicks and foley that contribute to glueing together this stomper. 

Muttley continues to display his ability to forge multiple polyrhythms, a great knowledge of production techniques, combining a diverse selection of sounds and his skills to create a must have release. The Tamaki EP feels like a nod to the roots of Dubstep, sticking to heavy, memorable basslines and the use of space, also catering to the steppers with his well-crafted drum patterns.

Animal Kingdom EP marks the tenth release for Imperial Audio, a label which strives on pushing an exciting, consistent style of dubstep and experimental music at or around 140bpm. With four years behind the imprint, their first double figure release marks a step forward and represents the ethos of Imperial as a whole.

Crystal Catcha provides the release with four tracks all centred around a very much animalistic and primal sounding ascetic, with a back catalogue of releases this South East, UK based producer certainly keeps away from the hype that captures so many producers these days and supplies something which is homegrown and original. After a long line of more ambient and electronica style releases that also hint to dubstep Jayson is taking a look to the more deep and dark dubstep whilst keeping it experimental in this EP.

The first track on the release, Crane & Tiger, gives a nod to Hip Hop in the almost sample like synth arrangement. It captures the asian sample well and works around the vocal with eastern strings, and ‘falling over itself’ percussion. 808 kicks punch through the low end and shuffling top frequencies break through the mix on a forward march. 

Title track on the EP is exactly as it suggests, although not the track that first incepted the EP idea it certainly glues it together nicely. Bird calls, raws of the king of the jungle and atmospherics lead you through whilst tough lows balance things against the rattle like percussion on top of the steady kick pattern.  
Locusts is a real look back to what Dubstep as a genre began as, a focus on the low frequencies but with a twist. It evolves throughout with simple snappy drums and a bass line that just harvests a head nod. The real action comes from the second drop, this track is the ‘mover’ of the EP.

Lastly, Endgame closes the release with game-esque synths rising in and out of the track and almost horror movie organ sounds. It keeps in context with the rest of the EP percussion-wise with clean steady percussive patterns throughout.

Two amazing tracks from semihedonist an electronic music producer born and rised in Poland. Heavily influenced by industrial metal bands like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. In 2001 he got into drum and bass, IDM, ambient and techno music. 

He always prefered deep and dark side of those various genres. His adventure with music production began in 2009. Wide range of music styles is perceptible in his dubstep productions. Currently he lives in Berlin, Germany.
His first release was track called “Mutation”on Soulstep Records (Nov 2011). “Mutation” was played in famous London radio Rinse.FM by Crises. Also there is forthoming EP on Imperial Audio with tracks "Scanner Darkly" and "Devil is in the Details"

2012 set off the tone for Sam (Arkwright) as a producer, he has stormed the underground scene bringing a personal twist to bass music and all that is Dubstep.
With a solid twelve months of writing tracks and support from some of the most influential people in the genre, it was only necessary for us to approach Arkwright and get this EP in the spotlight (although he has been doing a great job of this already).

"Retaliate" is a brave movement of deep sounds mixed with heavy tribal influences and the remix from DT completely transfers the mood into a more ambient but hard hitting number.
Whilst "Subdefuse" is very minimal and edgy it still hits all the right spots, the mix of eerie chords and percussion is a great vibe for easy listening or to rinse alongside the rest of the EP.
"New World Order" goes back to basics and is the sound Imperial Audio is always pushing for, to sum up - this release is a must buy whether your a DJ, a music critic or just like to space out and delve into the deeps sounds of the future.
