Realm of Mara

Here it is, the second major project from Impermanence: Somniferum. 

This was a project that got me through a real tough time, working on it has kept me going through a very brutal chest infection. A lot of the lyrics are about The struggles of being unwell, both physically and mentally, while also touching on a lot of the things that have kept me going through this. Musically I’ve gone back to the sort of sound I started out with. Taking massive influence from dream pop and shoegaze bands like MBV, Candy Claws and Slowdive and mixing it with the cloud rap sounds of rappers I love like 6 Dogs, Bladee and Black Kray. I’ve always felt there’s a strong overlap with these genres and I hope this mixtape can show the flexibility of the cloud rap sound. 

I’d like to give a massive shout out to my two best friends, Channce and Greenley for allowing me to constantly bother them with song drafts and ideas. Their support and advice has been absolutely essential to giving me the confidence and drive to smash this tape out. Thank you guys, I really mean it.

The Moon in the Window

Hi, figured I should start describing my tracks actually. Building on the sound I had in my last song, CRACK!, Cursed Beyond the Grave goes in a more blackened death metal style, reminiscent of bands like Sacramentum, Dissection and Windir. Lyrics deal with Buddhist philosophy and mental health steeped in black metal imagery. I tried to make greater use of harsh vocals and do a better job with the mixing and mastering. 

Cursed Beyond the Grave is also the lead single of my debut EP: Realm of Mara, which is currently in concept stage. I wish I could give some sort of concrete release date. I think it may take me a couple of months. I'll be putting it up on Bandcamp as pay as you feel. 

I do everything myself, from song concept right through to production. Me, my trusty Tanglewood and my faithful copy of Ableton. Follow for more blackened cloud rap. Cursed Beyond The Grave

Hi, sorry it's been a while. I'm still working on my debut EP which is in the end stages of production. It took longer than anticipated unfortunately. I've had some problems come up in regards to work, health and my damn laptop breaking. But I've got quite a few tracks in the works.

CHAOS FREESTYLE developed out of a riff I created that was meant to go on another song. But after playing it, I just knew it needed a whole track. Taking inspiration from old school death and thrash metal bands like Bolt Thrower and Slayer, this song is probably the heaviest thing I've ever written. It also required me to tune my guitar really weirdly to make it work. So, tuning back to standard will be great fun.

Heavily inspired by the criminally underrated death metal band Lykathea Aflame, this melodic death trap metal track is one of my most complex tracks yet. Pushing my abilities turned out well though, I think this track turned out very well! It's also written in what is objectively the best mode: Phrygian dominant.

Going into the New Year I have a few tracks in the works. One heavily inspired by depressive black metal. The other is like a CHOAS FREESTYLE Pt. 2. I'm also starting work on my next long term project which I'll keep you guys updated about. Hope you enjoy!

Dead Man Walking

Initially I was going to save this one but honestly, I just can't wait to show it off!

Heavily inspired by depressive black metal and blackgaze, especially the band Austere, Wither... is a step back towards what I feel are my roots. With tremolo picked guitars drenched in reverb, hard hitting drums and a harsh rap touching on topics of the fleeting nature of life. I also took a step back production wise to try and create a cleaner mix but one that still retains a definite edge to it. I really feel this is my best work yet.

I have a lot of inspiration from working on this track that I'm going to channel into my next project! My debut album titled Wither and Freeze, a depressive black metal/trap metal project which I've already started work on. Forgive me if my output slows down for a while, but I still have a few ideas for singles in the works! Expect another track to drop when I finish work on the album, follow my Twitter for updates.

Hey, a little something I was inspired to write after seeing the terrible events in Ukraine. Full solidarity with the citizens of both Ukraine and Russia. Nobody should be forced to kill or die for some pointless war pushed by an oligarch! No war, but class war! The only people who suffer from war are us regular people! Let's all hope for a quick, peaceful end to the war and for the right of the people of Ukraine to determine their own future.

A return to metal after the more shoegaze influenced Somniferum.

This track was initially much darker lyrically. But I found that I just couldn't continue writing such depressing lyrics. So it became more positive, rather than being a song entirely about darkness and struggle; it became one more about resiliance and strength. It became especially about the role my religion plays in my life.

I am also really happy with how the production turned out on this. I learnt a lot while making Somniferum and I hope it reflects in the song. Let me know what you think of the mixing and mastering.

As a general update, I actually still am working on that album I started back when Wither... dropped at the start of the year. I'd hoped to have had it done by now but my poor physical health over the last few months has made it incredibly difficult to maintain any sort of consistant working schedule. I've also decided to take a couple of weeks off from making music. In the last few months, I've released a mixtape and several singles, all entirely written, recorded and produced by me. While I absolutely love doing this, I think I need a short break mainly for my physical health. When I start back up, I'll be working on that album. Thank you for being patient. If you have any complaints, write a detailed letter adressed to the entire species of staphylococcus aureus, the world's supply seems to be currently concentrated in my lungs.

Another track in more of a shoegaze/dream pop fashion. This was something I worked on as a little change of pace from my upcoming album, which is a lot more metal focused. Lyrically it's about someone in my life who's very important to me. Musically, it's got a pretty cool guitar solo. Hope you enjoy!

I've been away for a while haven't I?Working hard on my debut album! With only a few tracks left to finish, which should hopefully take no more than 2 months or so, I thought I'd let everyone get a first (well second) look at what I've been cooking up.

This track is all about the day to day struggle of living with mental and physical health problems. The abject terror of waking up each day in a vessel that seems to hate your existance. But even in darkness, there's light if you look. Listen to the album for a journey from a dark pit of depression and anguish to a hopeful future.

And I'm back! 

This year has been one of the best years of my life. Finally free from a nearly decade long abusive relationship and in much better control of my mental health. But there's one little thing that's bothering me, the fact that my abuser got off scott free while I had to uproot my entire life. Rather than dwelling on that injustice all the time, I figured it's better to channel that anger into something constructive. Which became my second album: Fierce Deity. I don't have a release date yet but I do have this single!

I HATE YOUR GUTS BITCH (all caps when you spell the song's name) is exactly what it says on the tin. I'm not proud of it, but I fucking despise my abuser. This track details why I hate her, and if you can understand anything I'm saying, hopefully you'll understand why too. For this track, and the wider album, I've taken a lot of inspiration from war metal, grindcore and old school thrash and black metal. Apologies for those who enjoyed the more blackgaze/post-rock elements of my last project (but watch this space if you did!) but this project is straight rage. I've changed my set up too, I've got a better mic, a new amp sim and a new audio interface. So hopefully the production quality is better.

Impermanence is a one man trap metal and cloud rap project from the UK. Looking to revolutionise the worlds of trap metal and cloud rap by bringing in elements of melodic/symphonic black and death metal as well as shoegaze and dream pop. A self-taught songwriter, musician and producer, I'm hoping my unique style will interest you. A combination of the groovy, palm muted riffs of Bolt Thrower, the epic, atmospheric style of Emperor with the confessional and gothic themed lyricism of Ghostemane. And cloud rap tracks that bring the hazy, dreamlike quality of bands like My Bloody Valentine and Candy Claws. With a dual focus on being enjoyable and accessible, while also being progressive and interesting; I'm hoping you'll join me on what I believe will be a long and fiercely independent career!
