Robert and I pulled up to TV Bar in downtown Detroit on a Saturday night during some impeccable weather. Walking through the bar we eventually got outside to where the patio vibe was strong and anticipating Butch's arrival. We grabbed a beverage and waited in the bar for a sign of the German DJ/Producer.

Once he made it in and we introduced ourselves, it was pretty clear he wasn't feeling well. Dude's been working hard and it was starting to catch up with him. However, he still graciously chatted with us for the podcast in a garbage filled alley that smelled the opposite of pleasant. He went on shortly after and played some great tunes for a great crowd. A great night!

Having high quality deep house grace the lovely city of Grand Rapids is a rare blessing. We love this city, but it needs more House and Techno – and a little less of the raging intensity going on in every corner of the nightlife. Running implied out of the state of Michigan can be a privilege.  There can be a seemingly endless supply of great creative talent from here,  especially out of the city of Detroit.  Rob sat down with one of these younger, new rising talents coming out of the city: John Lawyer.  John is a Producer/DJ who is starting to make a name for himself around the city with his DJ sets, blending an electric mix of house, techno and more.  In this interview John talks about early influences, 40 oz. beers, and why he prefers his MPC to computer programs.  Enjoy.

Detroit, MI based electronic music artists and implied music founders Robert Perry and Noah DeSmit have teamed up to bring you a new project: Sea of Wolves. The first release is a white label style bootleg remix of the track ‘Cello Song’ by The Books featuring Jose Gonzalez (a cover of the classic Nick Drake tune).

The influence for Perry and DeSmit’s new project came from a trip they took traveling through the Erie Canal and New York’s Hudson river into the sea of the Atlantic in nothing but a two man boat.  Footage from their trek is the basis for their music video, which is available on YouTube at youtube.com/impliedvideos.

Our final installment of the Movement 2013 edition of the podcast. Eric Novak and Jake Greba make up the Detroit techno duo Stone Owl. This year marks their first appearance at the Movement festival, and they did not disappoint. After an incredible set at the Made In Detroit Stage, we talked with the boys underneath the bustling media tent.

Both Eric and Jake have been making music for ages – this is hardly their first foray into crafting songs. Robert and Noah sat down with them and spoke about those first musical inspirations, the eventual road to techno and the freedom that comes from doing it all for the love of music.
