After the success of "All Night Brotherhood", Art Of Tones is back with a brand new EP on his own PALP imprint.
"Crazay" is the main track here, where Art Of Tones delivers once again his unique sound signature. Evolving around a funky bassline and classy guitar licks, and with its familiar, soulful vocal snippets, the track has an usual, slightly aggressive colour that makes it sound truly different from the usual disco tunes heard here and there.

Well it has been a while but i'm pleased to present my first installment of 2014.  Apologies for missing the last two months - many people have messaged me and asked why there hasn't been a new podcast and i'm sorry I haven't had time to reply to everyone.  The honest reason is simply due to a lack of quality music around at the moment.  This isn't a business for me, it's done purely for the love of music and if I don't love the music then there is just no point me playing it, quality over quantity is most important, right?  Anyway, enough of the rambling I hope you are all doing well - here's 15 tracks that i've collected over the last couple of months that are doing it for me at the moment and I hope they do it for you too, enjoy :)

Excited to share this sunset mix I did on Koh Pha-ngan on August 2nd 2024 - 21 years to the day since first setting foot on the island. 

It’s one of my favourite places in the world and loved throwing this mix down on the beach whilst sinking a couple of cold Singha’s and watching the day turning to night. The sunset was stunning that evening.

We’ve got a bit of everything in here - leftfield beach beats, chuggy deep house, some dubby organic sounds and a naughty bit of feet-on-cool-sand euphoria here and there 🙌

"Have you ever been mistreated by someone you love?" asks a clean smooth Afro-American voice in this uplifting, feel-good tune ‘Mistreated’, to which we are going to give a pedestal this Friday afternoon in our Premier section, besides totally grooving to it’s jazzy harmonica tunes at the moment of writing.

One of the men behind it, is the author of an eye flashing, bright-coloured, incredibly angled real life stills, which his Instagram profile is filled with. In the dance music industry, he is recognized by the name Mark Farina. I could not go on but mention, since the this is a new collaboration between this old-school San Franciscoan legend and his likeminded Homero Espinosa, came out really well, should come as no surprise.

The prior one, called 'Work.Groove/Work-A-Pella', is a piece of house music in Adagio with a spice of funk, as we see is typical for this collaboration. Talking about it, the styles of each of the men are so similar, one could not name what could be assigned as an influence of either. Both of them are from San Francisco and both are, one could call, veteran DJ’s. The track is released under the label of Homero himself, who mentioned having admiring Mark’s work for a long time. That comes with no surprise since Mark Farina has been there for a while and is quite defined in his unique style of mixing Jazz, Downtempo and House.

A little bird told me there is more to come from this duo and with no doubt we will be looking forward to it. And I mean, really, Mark Farina, I am starting to follow your Instagram profile right. NOW.

Besides launching his fresh Bodybuilder Quartet series (QSB), inaugurated by Scott Franka, Nachtbraker unveils yet another Quartet: four records in the The Trophy Quartet series (QST). Both these two Quartets will be released over the course of the next two years.
The Trophy series will cover the warmer side of the house music spectrum. And who better than Parisian boy-wonder Tell (Banoffee Pies, Skylax, Rutilance) to kick off proceedings with the brilliant “Faster Than Light” EP. Last year he released “Hope Springs Eternal” on QS003 which was an overnight succes after getting rinsed by heavyweights like Jeremy Underground and Detroit Swindle, so a proper solo EP was inevitable.

On the A1 Tell serves up some intergalactic French filter house dubbed “Faster Than Light”, which brings back the Daft Punk and Armand van Helden vibes of our Walkman-days. We all just love filters, admit it. Its true. Next up is “Ya’ll Feel That Honey (Paradise Mix)”, a tune with undeniable swing and moody chords that ultimately collide beautifully with a delectable big room piano riff that will stay in your head for days. B1 opens with a leisurely-paced jam called “What Can U Do For Me”. It’s the ‘pretty one’ of the EP, the one girls fall in love with and boys hate to love because they know he’s hot stuff. A high pitched vocal, asking what you can do for her, flies over rubbery Rhodes chords with neat percussion keeping you on the groove. The EP closes with B2 “Vamos A La Playa”. Keywords: coconuts, sand, bikini, six-pack and tan. Vamos!
