Every track of the Textures Project consist in a soundscape texture, a field recording supplemented with more or less prominent music (or no music at all) together with a photo taken at the time of recording representing a texture.

This one is very important to me. I first heard the simple motif in the beginning and at the end of the song one day when I was a kid and I were in my room alone sticking figurines to my bed side, the music appeared to come from inside my room, but there was nothing capable of playing music inside the room at the time, and certainly not that kind of music, and outside the window there was that grey light, when the sky is totally cloudy and light does not seem to come from one direction in particular. I was so scared I remained petrified for a good 20 minutes in my bed, then I took courage and went to the kitchen to my mother, when i returned in the bedroom the music was gone. To this day I still don't know where it came from.
That music has remained with me since, and when I started the Textures Project I decided to develop and use it (or at least i think I did. I could have distorted it in my memories througout the years). I decided to use it with the thunderstorm recording because there was that same special light outside when I was recording.

Grey Light (15.37, 25 - 07 - 2015, Palazzolo Acreide)

This took me a couple of hours to make, from the concept to the final master.
It was an interesting experiment since (almost) all of its parts are totally improvised in realtime, from timbre to the chords played and effects applied.
It reminds me of a beam of photons desperately trying to escape the gravity well of a black hole, but inevitably falling into it.

This track was made for the short film "Sfogo Rituale" I helped produce.
It makes heavy use of a recording of a kulning chant, a traditional chant used in some region of sweden to recall animals from pasture.
