In der zweiten Sendung von Radio Impuls war Pauli aka schnucki47 zu Gast (https://soundcloud.com/schnucki47). Sie ist ebenfalls Mitglied der Impuls Crew und legt nun schon seit einigen Jahren in Freiburg auf. Zusammen haben wir einige FLINTA*-Artists vorgestellt, die wir im Jahre 2022 für uns entdeckt haben. Dazu haben wir einige (mehr oder weniger aktuelle) Releases vorgestellt, angehört und uns darüber unterhalten. Anschließend spielen wir gemeinsam ein DJ-Set, indem auch diese Künstler*innen natürlich nicht fehlen dürfen - darunter LCY, Zora Jones, Flore und NVST.

Bei "Radio Impuls" geht es grundsätzlich um elektronische Musik. Im Zentrum stehen dabei die Neugier für den Sound, die Geschichte und die Entwicklungen von experimentelleren Genres, die sich an den Grenzen der Clubmusik entwickeln. Im Fokus stehen die Fragen, wie verschiedene Subgenres sich gegenseitig beeinflussen, wie dies mit der subkulturellen Szene, bestimmten Künstler*innen, Labeln und Orten zu tun hat. Rave Recording 06: montage @ Rempart Rave 22.04.23 (Opening at hall)

In this "Radio Impuls" show, DJs and producers @juanavaleria(who also spins under the name @presea) and @sepbtt are guests. The two played the closing set at our Rempart Rave with Nick Léon in February. They are both originally from Colombia, but now live in Freiburg and Karlsruhe and organise, among other things, the party series “La ruta del jaguar” and “neon jngl club”, with which they showcase mostly club music or artists from Latin America and other regions of the global south. In the show, we talk about their ideas behind it and about some tracks by Latin American artists. In the second hour, they play a b2b set.

"Radio Impuls" is fundamentally about electronic music. The focus is on curiosity about the sound, history and developments of more experimental genres that evolve on the borders of club music. The spotlight is on the questions of how different subgenres influence each other, how this relates to the subcultural scene, certain artists, labels and places. On the sound level, the programme is a continuation of what the Impuls Crew in Freiburg aims to do by DJing and organising parties, among other things: To create curiosity in order to remain curious about different, new left-field sounds within electronic club music.

Always on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 22 h. The next show is on May 21st.

In dieser Sendung von "Radio Impuls" ist DJ und Produzentin Antonia aka URTE zu Gast (@u_r_t_e). URTE, die schon seit vielen Jahren als DJ und Produzentin die Club- und Musik-Szene Freiburgs prägt, hatte 2020 mit „Permafrost“ ihre Debüt-EP vorgelegt (https://urte.bandcamp.com/album/permafrost). Manche kennen sie vielleicht auch von dem spontanen b2b2b mit RARRI und DJ Heidi Paris bei unserem „Impuls Takeover“ im Artik vergangenen März. Mit ihr spreche ich über ihre neue EP „Parallel Heights“ (https://urte.bandcamp.com/album/parallel-heights), deren erste Single „Hold Onto Me“ bereits released ist. Die gesamte EP erscheint am 23. Juni bei Coyote Records.
Wir werden über den Entstehungsprozess, die einzelnen Tracks und vielleicht auch über die Lebensumstände sprechen, die die Entstehung dieser EP begleitet haben.

In dieser Sendung von Radio Impuls ist Rosa zu Gast. Sie ist das neuste Mitglied der Impuls Crew. Die Sendung besteht aus einem jeweils einstündigen Mix von Rosa und Host @montage-impuls. Obwohl Rosa erst verhältnismäßig vor kurzer Zeit angefangen hat aufzulegen, zeigt ihr ambientesquer, experiementeller Mix, dass sie schon jetzt voll ihr eigenes Ding macht. Die Sendung wurde im Vorfeld aufgezeichnet, weil Host montage zur Zeit der Ausstrahlung auf dem En Masse Festival in Bristol war. Zu diesem Anlass hat er einen Timedance-Only-Mix (mit einer Ausnahme) aufgenommen. Timedance ist das Label von Batu, dem Hauptveranstalter des Festivals.

MAENDI's set at our last Rempart Rave at the Mensa Rempartstraße.

It’s hard to pin down @aemaenda's sound, since her taste reaches from Jazz and R&B to dubstep, drum n’ bass and experimental bass, while ranging between cheesy and dark. Being such an experienced selector, her sets are always a surprise, breaking styles, unwilling to commit to a specific genre or sound. 

In her set at our Rempart Rave, she delivered just that! A wild blend of her full range!

Now based in Cologne, she played a big part in developing the Munich scene - as a substantial part of @radio80000, that meanwhile influences the scene of electronic and non-electronic music far beyond Munich.

@soundsoflowki’s DJ sets range from off-kilter club bangers, half time stompers to double time flying percussions. As a co-founder of Illusion he has been pushing the boundaries for genre-defying club nights and DJ sets in Cologne and beyond for many years now, sharing the booth with and hosting artists like Bruce, Batu, Ben UFO, OJOO, Object Blue, upsammy, Simo Cell and Jamie Tiller. 

At our Rempart Rave low Ki played a rather fast set full of slamming percussions, keeping everyone on their toes!

His dedication to sound extends to his monthly radio show Elotrax on @radio80000, where he regularly invites exciting local and up and coming artists.

In der letzten Sendung des Jahres 2023 von "Radio Impuls" ist Felix aka Fl3x zu Gast, der auch schon seit ca. einem Jahr Mitglied der Impuls Crew ist. Mit ihm spricht Host montage darüber, wie sich im Diskurs zur elektronischen Musik Genrebezeichnungen ausbilden, welche Funktion diese im privaten und im öffentlichen Bereich erfüllen, was dies mit Ein- und Ausschlusmechanismen, mit Trends und der Bedeutung von Orten in der Clubkultur zu tun hat - und wie lustig dieses viele Gerede um Genres auch einfach sein kann. Dazu besprechen sie unter anderem eine Analyse von 2002 des Techno-Magazins Raveline, das von 1992 bis 2013 erschien und eine Auflage von bis zu 140.000 Exemplaren hatte. In der zweiten Stunde spielen Fl3x und montage noch ein b2b.

In der ersten Sendung von „Radio Impuls“ des Jahres 2024 ist Joshua aka @nutri-score-e zu Gast. Ebenfalls aktives und wertvolles Mitglied der Impuls Crew. Er und Host montage sprechen über den aktuellen Erfolg von UK Garage. Dafür diskutieren sie verschiedene Tracks: ihre Stellung im Genre und ihre musikalischen Merkmale. Sie sprechen auch über Garage-Artists, die gerade größere Aufmerksamkeit erhalten und woran das vielleicht liegen mag. War Garage nur ein Hype oder ist es schon Pop?

Bei Radio Impuls geht es grundsätzlich um elektronische Musik. She only started DJing some time ago, but as a member of SYLP and Kultur.Sympuls e.V. she has been actively involved in organising parties in Offenburg and Freiburg for many years. Für diese Show von Radio Impuls hat host montage den up-and-coming Producer @lasl0 eingeladen. In Freiburg ist er ist bei Kultur.Sympuls als auch beim Delphi Space dabei. Er ist nicht nur als Producer und DJ, sondern auch mit seinen Live-Sets aktiv. Im Mai 2024 hat er seine Debut-EP "2quarters`caughtin`delusions" veröffentlicht, die experimentelle bass cuts mit modularen ambient sound verbindet. In der Sendung spricht lasl0 über Techniken, Maschinen und Überlegungen, die seinen Produktionsprozess bestimmen. Außerdem stellt er neben einigen Einflüssen auch diverse Entwürfe seiner neuen EP „Kluft“ vor, die bald auf LAYE AUDIO erscheinen wird. Zum Abschluss spielen lasl0 und montage noch ein kurzes b2b.

Better late than never! Here is, finally, the show that was aired nearly half a year ago. But one of the shows I am especially proud of.
For this show of "Radio Impuls" I had the great honour to record an interview with Bristol (UK) local hero Larry McCarthy aka @iambruce. Thanks to Larry for engaging with the DIY-approach of the show, that hit especially hard, when the rain water from the roof came down on us mid interview in the Bistro of the Mensa (I cut all our surprised screams out). Thanks for doing the show with me and keeping up with my bad English. And thanks for the great evening at the Rempart Rave all around! 
Bruce is internationally recognised for his eclectic DJ sets. But he has also made a name for himself in the UK club and experimental music scene with releases on labels such as Livity Sound, Hessle Audio, Timedance and Hemlock. In the words of Resident Advisor: "Larry McCarthy creates postmodern rhythmic drama at the burning intersection of UK dance music." In the context of our invitation to the Rempart Rave in Freiburg in December 2024, I seized the opportunity to interview him about his new project, which moves away from more strictly club music in the direction of ‘avantgarde pop’ - and in which Bruce lets his voice take centre stage musically, as you can here on his album from December 2023: "Not Ready For Love" (https://wordsofbruce.bandcamp.com/album/not-ready-for-love)

The show contained our interview and a part of his set, that he played in the Mensa at the Rempart Rave. It also contained a preview of his track "Golden Water Queen" that is already released. Even though I am very late with this, it still somehow is on time, since the track is released on the EP "The Hand", which was fully released TODAY (https://wordsofbruce.bandcamp.com/album/the-hand). Radio Impuls is generally about electronic music. It focuses on the curiosity for the sound, history and developments of experimental genres that develop at the boundaries of club music. The show centres around the questions of how different subgenres influence each other and how this relates to the subcultural scene, specific artists, labels and locations. On a sound level, the programme is a continuation of what the Impuls Crew in Freiburg aims to do by DJing and organising parties, among other things: To create curiosity in order to remain curious about other, new left-field sounds within electronic club music.
