For episode 72 we present Valrik! 
Born in Greece in 2001 and currently based in Stockholm, Valrik is making his own path in the electronic music scene, mixing trippy, groovy, and psychedelic techno and emotional trance. He likes building sets that take listeners on a journey that shifts from atmospheric darkness to high-energy movement, making them dance, trip out, and get lost in trance. An evolving figure in the techno scene, Valrik has a vision of deeper dancefloor experiences, stronger techno culture education and connection. Over the past months, he has performed, among others, at Copenhagen’s Den Anden Side, Sonoluma Festival, and curated Kubben Sessions, a mini series of event-broadcasts in collaboration with Lava Kulturhuset in Stockholm.

"This set was recorded recently in my studio at Kulturhuset, right in the center of Stockholm. It’s inspired by a recent gig I played here, which resonated a lot with the crowd and gave me a loooot of energy. It’s fun, trancey, and packed with some of my favourite tracks and sounds, including gems from artists I really admire. Meant to be played loud and to transmit strong, uplifting energy. Enjoy!"

Interview with Valrik: 

Q: What made you start DJing?
A: I hadn’t really listened to techno seriously until I went to my first rave in Athens some years ago, and it was love at first sight. I fell in love with the energy of the rave, the human interactions, the compliments and love you give and receive. But what gave me literal chills was seeing the DJs manipulate the mood of the crowd. Realizing that the DJ is the one shifting the whole energy still feels like pure magic to me. Less than a month after this rave, I bought a small Numark controller and became bedroom DJ. Over the past year I’ve realised this is my true calling and I’m steadily stepping it up.

Q: Describe your style in three words?
A: high-energy, trippy, emotional

Q: Your best set in 2024/2025?
A: A few weeks ago I played a closing set at Spice99 in Stockholm. The room got so packed you could barely breathe and I played a high-energy, bouncy mix of techno and trance. The energy exchange with the crowd was unreal! I’m still emotional thinking about it.

Q: Your favourite track right now?
A: Tough question! But I have to say Tibetan Monks by BEC. I’d been waiting for this one to drop for over a year, as it was getting played by some of my favourite artists. Now that it’s finally out, it always brings crazy energy to the crowd when it lands.

Q: A track you never get tired of?
A: Cherrymoon Trax - The House Of House (Bonzai Records, 1994) Legendary trance anthem, euphoric and melancholic at the same time. It’s the perfect closing track, and every time I play it, it brings that pure 90s rave energy you can really feel.

Q: A hidden gem in Stockholm you’d like to share
A: The newly reopened Spice99 for sure. It’s fresh, different, and already gaining a lot of attention. It has my respect for bringing something new to Stockholm’s saturated scene.

Q: Stockholm DJ you want to highlight
A: I have to mention the world-renowned Peder Mannerfelt, a DJ and producer who, in my opinion, is so boundary-pushing and experimental that he easily takes you out of your comfort zone when it comes to electronic music. His sound is intense, dynamic, and I feel like he’s almost more famous abroad than in Sweden.
And as we say in Greece, “If you don’t praise your own house, it will fall down and crush you,” so I also want to highlight my good friend Flora, very talented hardgroove DJ who’s definitely one to watch.

Polar Inertia - Parallel Transport

MPVLSIV is the multi-textured techno project of Melina, based in Athens, Greece. Emerging from introspective quarantine explorations, the project is deeply influenced by the psychedelic layers of reality. Drawing on both physical and mental states as creative fuel, IMPVLSIV channels blissful, primal energy to the dancefloor through tribal, raw, and deep elements.

Melina has performed at venues such as Tresor Berlin, Astron, Vondelbunker (Amsterdam), Six Dogs, Temple Athens, The Host SKG, Romantso, and B-Side. In 2023, she debuted with a track on The Pact VA, alongside Crystal Geometry, DΛS, and Bestial Mouths. That same year marked the release of her first EP, ATASTHALIES, on Public Sex Regime (Amsterdam), followed in 2025 by her second EP, Nothing Is Everything, With a Twist.

Beyond production, Melina is also a Cannibal Radio producer and hosts her own weekly DJ night every Wednesday at B-Side, cultivating "Street Rituals".
