In Harmony - Sinatra's Something Stupid

This is a song from my one-woman show - "Voices In My Heart." The music is from Bizet's "Carmen" - the very well-known - "Habanera." I wrote the new lyrics. The character I'm playing is Maria Callas - the incredible opera singer with one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. Maria had a love affair with Aristotle Onassis during her amazing career and he dumped her for Jackie Kennedy.  The rest is history.......

I lived in Manhattan in the 80's and one of my dearest friends - Jim Kaston - had an article about Leona Helmsley taped to his refrigerator. She was reported as saying, "I Don't Pay Taxes." We laughed and laughed about that statement and I think it actuallly was Jim who suggested that was a song that begged to be written. These lyrics - written to Peggy Lee's "Manana" - were one of my first attempts at lyric writing..... Nearly 20 years later, "No Taxes" became part of my one-woman cabaeret " Voices in My Heart."
