recording of a performance in the crypt gallery, st pancras church, London. The words of the song are an edited version of Pablo Neruda's poem "Only Death", altered and scanned to fit music I composed, and with spoken text I added  which refers to the burial commemoration of the rich and powerful as compared to the poor and nameless. 
I was tempted to rename this "The Grim Sweeper" but since the content of the work is so sad and angry this title didn't seem appropriate, though it is in fact correct as you will hear if you listen to the file.

"Covehithe:The Leper of Love" is the first of six songs made in response to sites in Suffolk near the coast, which is subject to change and severe erosion. The tracks incorporate field-recordings made in Suffolk during a residency generously supported by the Britten-Pears Foundation.  Covehithe is to the north of Southwold.

Ximena Alarcón es una artista que se dedica a escuchar a los espacios migratorios, poniéndolo en relación con las memorias individuales y colectivas. Su práctica implica la escucha profunda, la improvisación sonora, y la creación de entornos en línea para expandir nuestro sentido de pertenencia y de lugar. Se interesa en la creación de presentaciones telemáticas, derivadas de escuchar en los espacios intersticiales, tales como los sueños, transporte subterráneo, y el espacio "intermedio" en el contexto de la migración. Ella completó un doctorado en Música, Tecnología e Innovación, de la Universidad De Montfort, y recibió una beca Leverhulme 2007-2009, lo que llevó a la creación de un entorno en línea 'Sounding Underground'. Fue galardonada con un certificado de escucha profunda en 2012, y actualmente es un mentor para el Programa de Formación de escucha profunda, dirigido por el Centro para la escucha profunda, en el Instituto Politécnico de Rensselaer. Desde 2011 ha sido investigadora en el CRiSAP donde ha desarrollado 'en red' Migraciones.
