London artist, producer, DJ, label head and leader of a new generation of high-speed ravers, SHERELLE announces her eagerly-awaited debut EP, 160 Down The A406. Known for her work as a pioneering, high-octane DJ, the EP is the first time SHERELLE has officially released her own productions. 

The EP title track “160 Down The A406" is today available to stream and download. Fusing Sherelle’s love of high speed sounds with a weaving melody,  the song is a left turn from an artist known for high intensity sets, finding subtlety within speed, and the sound of one of modern dance music’s brightest mind’s subverting expectations.

SHERELLE kicked off 2021 with a New Balance campaign and a hotly anticipated set for Fabric with Hooversound artist Tim Reaper. Her residency on BBC Radio 1 has seen her champion cutting-edge dance music to a mainstream audience, whilst her Essential Mix was named the station’s best of the year in 2020; whilst Hooversound - the label she runs with longtime friend Apple Music Presenter Naina - has carved out a reputation for the freshest outputs of UK club culture through releases featuring Special Request, Tim Reaper, Hyroglifics, Sinistarr and Deft. 

The 160 Down The A406 announcement follows Sherelle’s news of the creation of BEAUTIFUL, a space for black and LGBTQI+ artists to give their music a home.

If 2020 was a break-out year for Sherelle, seeing her win countless awards and grow respect amongst her peers, 2021 is the year of her truly establishing herself as a new age icon in UK dance music and beyond.

As Typeless steps into its fourth release, label head Aloka turns eyes and ears to the horizon with a shapeshifting drop of breakbeat, electro and ambient. Fusing together textural arrangements and genre hybrids, he sets his sights on experimentation with ‘Inta’.

The opening track ‘Inta’ moves with a dreamy, indirect gaze and wistful melodies as though sighing itself into existence. Amongst it all sits a subtle beat which carries it into the dancefloor realm, yet it’s when they apex together that its weight blooms from the core. ‘B4
XL’ begins almost as an ensuing chapter to its predecessor with its ambient washes, but soon ripens into an antagonistic electro number that tumbles between raging synths and breaks.
On the B-side, ‘Chroma’ diffracts into a million colours, glassy eyed in its introduction but hiding tyrannica kicks and syncopations underneath a swooping bass. The closing track‘Movement’ slinks straight into a workout-ready guise, merging panting exhalations, pearly synths and choppy breakbeats against the sensation of a spectral figure reaching a deep state of flow.

With this second self-release on the label, it’s as though Aloka is so deeply immersed in his complex vision that he’s stepped out of his body to watch it all unfold. There’s one word to describe this image of him in his effortless performance as both label curator and signee:

These were the instructions which had been passed down and ordered. According to him, the scientist, these rules would make him better. Each day he was to begin dancing in the morning and stop only once tired or exhausted, for these were the Doctor's orders, this the Doc's Track. Leaving the surgery he began to listen to the sweet sounds which reverberated loudly all around him, he placed a spring in his step and went forth about his day with a flurry and a shuffle. 

Kieran Apter is a Scottish producer who channels elements of rave and youth culture from his home town experiences through music. CB90 Dance Recordings is his new label, a homage to the mining community near his home and the rough and ready sounds of escapism. The first EP on the label features a remix from Man Power, it is the original however which caught our ears.

The news was unprecedented, it had come as a bitter shock to them all. As whispers were exchanged between greedy, opportunistic reporters the story began to circulate. It seemed as though this was to soon be the talk of the town and the end of the road. Never in his lifetime had he imagined a scandal quite like this, a doping scandal no less, on home turf. As the cameras began to flicker and flash he prepared to bid his farewells to the press room knowing all too well that this would be his last time on tv, let alone in the ring. 

Adam Curtain has a relentless output at present, he's releasing music at a furious pace. His next EP comes on Handy Records, the first outing on the label. The EP is rounded off nicely by a punchy remix from UTTU boss Dj Haus who enters the ring.
