It's an honor for me to interpret this blues standard written by Jimmie Cox in 1929 and recorded by some of the greatest artists of all times, such as Bessie Smith, Nina Simone and Eric Clapton.  

The lyrics are written from a point of view of somebody during the Prohibition Era, who lost all material wealth and with that, friendships that only cared about superficial things. It remains very current, as we still live in a world in which some are only attracted by shimmering vanities and don't value the intangible. And even though we live in this truth, which is inevitably filled with darkness, music lifts our spirits to reflect upon such matters with lightness.   Hope you enjoy it :)
