Melbourne’s rising star DJ Life returns to Echocentric Records to complete the Musica Australis Incognita trilogy. The A-side is all about “Accelerator” - a hyperventilating peak time whomper of the highest calibre. Rudolf C steps in for remix duties and morphs the title track into a hypnotic blinder. On side B “Exaltic” is a trademark DJ Life genre- hopping hybrid burner. The closing number “Glycol” fuses electro with IDM overtones, a real hidden gem.

The Haŵs crew once again come correct with their 11th release, and the 3rd edition of their V/A volumes. Their dominant streak waxes anew with zero sign of waning, as they unleash 4 original pearlers into the outside world. Names all too familiar in the scenes they inhabit, Rudolf C, Lisene, DJ Life and Nathan Pinder combine their comprehensive skillsets for your unending pleasure.

The A2 track is ‘Time 2 Bump’ by Lisene, and if that kick drum doesn’t define ‘bump’ then we need a new sonic dictionary. Elongated acid permeates a sweeping groove, sitting atop a mechanized vocal of malicious design and destructive intent.

Right of left? Neither direction looked particularly inviting, but they had to pick one. Indecisiveness always reared its head here, so they'd leave it up to chance again; a toss of a coin and then a flick of the indicator. Routine and ritual had once ruled their every day, so now spontaneity dictated everything. They didn't know where they were headed but it was guaranteed it would better than where they'd started.

Kalahari Oyster Cult's next outing is something of a special one for the Amsterdam-based label. Across four tracks, they compile the works UK composer and producer Dominic Glynn, under his various guises: one track as Luke Warmwater, one from his Fluid moniker and the other two as Syzygy, the duo he formed with fellow producer Justin McKay. While two of the tracks were originally released via Glynn's own No Bones Records back in the 90s, the other two are getting their first road test on 'The Tri-Phase' EP, which is a window into his evolution as a producer.

Opening celebrations is Rudolf C’s ‘Shotta’, the type of head-nodder, dancefloor fodder that has long been associated with his name. Alien signal-like stabs persist and combine with the crunchy percussion throughout, tripping back and forth in its otherworldly paradigm.

Banoffee Pies Records 17th Original Series release comes via a 4 track Solo EP from https://soundcloud.com/gallegos_1991, making a return after his debut EP “Mad As Hell” in 2018. Along with multiple appearances on compilations and other series on the label, this record is a nostalgic reflection of UK club culture. A “Sentiment Of Love” - the EP title and opening track is a tribute to a time.

A positive selection of tracks starting on the A1 with a Winehouse sample, immediately carving the path for what is always a collection of expert sampling from our longest standing label member. The A2 offering, “Put Me In”, is a beating club anthem full of heavy distortion and all the acid lines you’d hope for in a moment at the back of a club. One Mitsy down.

The B1 “Together Flyin’ High” continues this moment with an elevating vocal and ringing synths layered with Broken Beats and the heavily percussive drum patterns Gallegos’ sound is so closely developed around. The last track on the release “Before Or Since”, immediately teleporting you to the end of a night. Something inward, for a time and place, future or past. BPR x

Kicking off 2021 in KOC’s teeming keepnet comes courtesy of Roza Terenzi & Fantastic Man under the guise of production unit B’Zircon. 

Merging the pair’s brill touch of trance-suffused elevation and ankle-twisting dynamics, ‘Lazulination’ EP finds the two producers unleashing a steadfast triad of genre-unbound, organic-grown jams out the deepest blue. 

Pulling out a savvy mix of muscular breaks and hi-NRG shuffle, the ‘90s atmospheric techno-laced roller ‘Azure’ revs up towards upper, euphoria-inducing layers of the ravey continuum. 

Breath-hold diving into lush cerulean ocean floors via white sand beachscapes, ‘Ultramarine’ has us speeding up the Gold Coast’s underwater canyons at full throttle. 

Topping off the release is Perko’s crossover of both tunes as one, taking us on a rivetingly soothing, bass-enhanced downtempo ride that shall please both ambient heads and laid-back dubs revellers in unison.
