For the tenth anniversary of the French label @popcornrecords , it was impossible not to make a somewhat special record. That’s why they chose the compilation format, because they wanted a lot of artists on this important and symbolic project, regulars of the label of course, but also newcomers. Bringing together 3 generations of producers, from legend to youngsters, they were all welcome.

Copenhagen-based musical adventurer Ground Plane Aerial returns with the latest instalment under his recently birthed moniker – this time launching his very own Theorama label project with a typically expressive 'Elusive Maneuvers' EP.
Ground Plane Aerial is the latest incarnation of the mysterious man behind the highly regarded Paxton Fettel project. With countless releases under his belt on much respected labels – including Delusions Of Grandeur, Kolour LTD, Apersonal, and regular home Greta Cottage Workshop – the new nom de plume is an exciting new 
vessel from where he intends to advance his odyssey into house-inspired jazz-funk futurism. Fresh from inspired releases and remixes on Apparel Music and Tensnake's True Romance, his latest offering is every bit as striking as we've come to expect from the maverick producer. 
The lively tempo, dramatic stabs and elegant musicality of 'Ethereal Drop' render it an esoteric classic in the making. Guitar picks burst into life over lush pads while synth arpeggios meander across the panorama. Rich with intelligent musicality, the arrangement ebbs and flows blissfully before eventually disappearing into evocative violet skies.
'Magik In Fuck Off Major' belies its cheekily confrontational name, as intricate layers of jazz-tinged keyboard licks make way for delicious chord progressions. The crisp rhythm stealthily builds before a deviant funk-fuelled synth line joins the action to add a freakish intensity to the delightfully distinctive cut. Simultaneously detailed and spacious, the music overflows with originality while retaining a floor-focused edge.

'Precious Life' in it's original mix version is very smooth, beautiful vocals, with some disco influences thanks to strings, groovy relaxed house beat.
The Club Mix 'Precious Life', pushing the energy forward. Minimalistic approach to the song structure. Stripped down, heavier version.
'House Nation', instantly gives a positive vibe, very cheerful, house with piano chord stabs. Well arranged.
'Moment Zero', deep groove, a bit darker, dubby character leaning towards techno, thanks to delays on the synth chord progressions. Tasteful and minimalistic use of vocal samples in all productions. A variety of moods with a strong sonic identity in the style.
Born and raised in Naples Marcus Raute started playing locally first and soon gaining traction in other parts of Italy as well. Marcus moved to Berlin for a short time before going to London where he regularly performed at clubs such as the renowned Egg London club, Lightbox, McQueen and Acquarium or countless boat parties on the river Thames ever since.

Freerange Records are happy to present the first of two EP’s taken from Crackazat’s forthcoming long-player, ‘Evergreen’. Featuring a stunning remix from Chicago house innovator, Ron Trent, the jazz-soaked EP serves as a tantalising preview of the tour de force that will soon follow.

Blending the purest forms of deep house with authentic jazz sensibilities, EP opener 'Beacon Of Light' bursts with themes of positivity and gratitude. The virtuoso instrumentation endows the track with a distinctly live feel, while Jacobs’ inspired vocal charges the track with soul-rich sentiment. Intelligently crafted to bring the heat in all-manner of settings, its floor-focused beats and compelling arrangement combine to affect maximum impact whether played in the clubs, bars, or on the airwaves.

Next up, deep house luminary Ron Trent steps in with his awe-inspiring take on Crackazat’s modern jazz ballad, ‘Simple Things’. Trent needs little in the way of introduction, a bonafide Chicago house legend whose spiritually-infused sound is unmistakably his own and never fails to mesmerise. Lifting elements of the Robert Glasper-inspired original while spacing out the stirring falsetto vocal, Trent stretches the track into a meandering deep house epic. Voyaging through waves of Latin percussion, ethereal piano keys, and psychedelic synth sweeps, Trent takes us on a profoundly affecting dancefloor journey as only he can.

Next to arrive is Crackazat’s ‘Maritime Dub’ take on ‘Beacon Of Light’. Evolving over skippy house drums and thick bass, chords rise in to caress the looped and filtered vocal, periodically opening up into the full chorus line to add shimmer to the heads-down house bump. Aimed squarely at moving dancefloors while delicately tripped-out, this simmering groove sure to hit home with fans of the trademark Crackazat sonic.

Finally, the LP’s title track 'Evergreen’ launches with a sprightly jazz swing before dusty drums add weight to the sophisticated instrumentation. Here we find Jacobs presenting jazz and house as a single entity, with carefully orchestrated wind instruments, keys and mallets dancing over an improvised walking bass line, as the distant vocal elevates the track far into the stratosphere.

This four-track collection is destined to turn heads, alerting the extended dance community to the sheer scope of Crackazat’s forthcoming album and offering a glimpse into the breathtaking musical universe that awaits.

Lex first grabbed our attention following his brilliant release on B2 Recordings which became a staple vibe setter in Jimpster’s DJ sets and Sofa Sessions streams in 2021. Gaining his deep musical knowledge through his own revered record store Radical Soundz, the Greek DJ and producer has been immersed in dance music for over 20 years and considered one of the key figures in the Athens underground house scene. With releases and remixes on labels such as Leng, Samosa, King Street and Black Riot, Lex is making waves internationally with a unique sound that fuses live elements and expansive arrangements taking influence from masters such as Ron Trent but adding a warm, cosmic glow.

Fellow Greek artist Locke joins proceedings for this EP bringing his own psychedelic sound garnered from his years playing crazy events taking in South American jungle parties, burning hot African desert raves, the underground clubs of Berlin to the sparkling coastal shores of Baja California. Locke is more than just a DJ. He is a connector, educator and traveller whose soulful music has the crowds chasing the sun as he brings love and celebration to the events he plays.

On title track ‘7 Day Path’ we’re treated to a beautiful spacious jam which unfolds across seven minutes, driving, live percussion keeping the energy high whilst Herbie-esque synth leads help to create a beautifully paced and dynamic arrangement.

Next up we have Italian legend DJ Rocca onboard for a remix of ‘7 Day Path’. The prolific producer and DJ has been a tour de force since the late 90’s collaborating with the likes of Howie B, Dimitri From Paris, Chris Coco, Daniele Baldelli and Jazzanova producing singles, remixes and albums for labels such as Sonar Kollektiv, Compost, Classic, Rekids, Futureboogie, !K7, Tirk, International Feel, Defected, Rotters Golf Club and Faze Action Recordings. Here he adds his trademark dubby disco wiggle pushing the original in a jazzy direction with live flute. Definitely one to be heard under the stars on a Croatian beach for maximum Adriatica effect!

Flipping over, things head deeper and darker with ‘See No Ball’ featuring Locomotives, a more straight-up heads-down stripped back club jam with a repeated vocal, funky guitar chops and a smattering of improvised synth and Hammond B3 keeping things jazzy and musical.

Closing out this brilliant EP we have ‘Catch Up With The Sun’ which drops the BPM’s for a low-slung cosmic jam loaded with good vibes.

"We’re pleased to present to you the first EP of Maytra ! After his contribution on La Mamie’s Trip Vol. 2 and all the years he spent behind our speakers... It's time to share the love. Born in a little village in the East part of France called Yutz, it didn't take long before he moved to
discover new horizons. While studying in Colombia in 2018, he bought his first Maschine. The mountainous scenery evoked nostalgic memories in him, feelings which he quickly turned into deep house sonorities. After spending two years in Paris in 2019 and “countless beautiful Saturday afternoons” at our parties at La Ferme du Bonheur, a connection between the label and the artist was born. On this piece of land, Maytra witnesses celebration of life, freedom and music he loves. The actual

It takes its inspiration from Kyle Hall, Hugo LX or Hannah’s deep house. The result is a 5-tracks EP, with some club-oriented and more relaxing tunes, led by
smooth, lush synths chords and soulful grooves. Mainly produced during lockdown, the project took some time to mature, before Aloo From Rome added her very unique voice on “Inner Peace”. This feature completes the vibrant energy pattern, to be found all along the EP."

Category, which features MJOG (Daydream/Recordeep), combines shuffling percussion over wiggling basslines. You’re in a dreamscape scenario, not for the first time, definitely not for the last time. Floating, weightless and without a care in the world, the passage is opening in front of you to pure light, slightly out of focus though – one must concentrate if you want to gain access. The techy, expressive synth pans and guides you, focus on that, it’s for the best.
