For our next installment, we’re honoured to welcome ABSIS back to the series with a stunning recording of his all-vinyl hybrid DJ set at this year’s Perpendicular Festival.

Equipped with an ISO420 mixer, Pulsar-23, H90 FX, three turntables, and a crate full of heavyweight rhythms, ABSIS delivered a beautifully crafted dub session that warmed the dancefloor on Saturday morning.

Kamran Sadeghi is a composer, record producer, interdisciplinary artist, and curator based in New York City. His work incorporates sound art, multi-channel composition, architecture, moving image, modular synthesis, and field recordings. This layered practice explores the intersection of interior and exterior worlds—physical, cultural, and psychological. He has collaborated with Zimoun, Patti Smith, Ellen Allien, Nan Goldin, and Matthew Herbert, with solo and collaborative presentations at CTM Festival, The Louvre, Berghain, Centre Pompidou, and Volksbühne.

Live from Berlin: Cosmo Vitelli is at the studio!

Exploring the fringes betwixt indie/prog-rock-infused melodic soundscapes and daringly off-kilter electronics, French disc jockey and producer Cosmo Vitelli's name has become synonymous with deep, no-holds-barred forays into uncharted territories and full body-&-soul sonic immersion. Schooled by the sound of guitars, it’s when confronted to a 4-track tape recorder that young Cosmo experienced an epiphany, which resulted in him dabbling in production as French Touch was soaring towards worldwide popular acclaim. Released in 1998, his eponymous debut for Etienne de Crécy’s Disques Solid launched his career, soon followed by an array of extended players and remixes that established him as one of the spearheads of the French electronic scene on an international scale.
 
Taking a sharp turn back to the leftfield after a ruthless stint in the arcane world of the majors, Cosmo Vitelli created his record label I’m a Cliché in 2004. Always a step ahead of his time and contemporaries, the Frenchman’s made it his signature to scout artists on the rise - Simian Mobile Disco, Azari & III, Yuksek, Moscoman, Red Axes to name but a few - offering them bespoke support and assistance to climb the ladder towards wider recognition. In parallel to his label-running venture, Cosmo went back to the basics with Bot’Ox, his joint project with Tekel’s Julien Briffaz. Merging alternative pop harmonics with a rock sensibility of varying scale and synth-heavy precision mechanics, the duo’s graced the grooves of labels as diverse and highly regarded as DFA and DC Recordings, eventually landing a gig at the legendary Olympia in Paris.
 
Now working from his Berlin studio, Cosmo Vitelli immerses himself in the heart of the vibrant European electronic music scene. Over recent years, he has left his mark with noteworthy releases and remixes on labels such as I’m a Cliché, Edit Service, Les Disques de la Mort. Among his standout releases are the two EPs 'Holiday In Panikstrasse' on Malka Tuti. Rather than conforming to formulaic and DJ-friendly beats, Cosmo's focus is on sound, deeply immersing himself in production, working towards aesthetic unity in each release, and refining his craft with each new record. 
 
In 2020, he curated a triple-LP VA compilation entitled 'Bongo Beats & Bankruptcy: The Sound of I’m A Cliché', released during the peak of European lockdowns, before releasing another EP under his name, 'As She Rolled Another’.
 
In 2022 he finally delivered his third album, 'Medhead', featuring eight cuts, five of them with vocalist Truus de Groot from the Dutch new/no-wave outfit Plus Instruments, 'Medhead' saw Cosmo liberated from conventional confines and arbitrary labels, effortlessly traversing various genres—from slow-drip kraut to intoxicating disco, murky motel-pop, neo-kosmische, hip-hop, industrial, and revamped indie-rock elements. This was followed the next year by an album of Medhead remixes by up-and-coming and well-established producers, including Krikor, Froid Dub or Khidja's Andrei Rusu.
 
In 2024, Cosmo Vitelli will have a busy year with the release of two collaborative albums. 
'Dopamine Dreams', set for release in March, renews his creative partnership with Truus de Groot, through a full collaboration authored equally by both artists. The dream-like soundscapes, enhanced by de Groot's vocals, evoke moods reminiscent of the 70s and 80s, with a timeless, debonair, and almost sardonic attitude. The next step in Cosmo Vitelli’s focus on high production values, Dopamine Dreams invites listeners to delve into its melodic and emotional depths.
 
This will be followed in September 2024 by a brand new album created with his Bot’Ox partner in crime Julien Briffaz after the project was left on standby for almost a decade.

For 2018’s next expedition, veteran cosmonaut Benedikt Frey takes control of space command after making 2017 one of his several galactic conquests, putting his proverbial black, red & yellow flag in a stunning vinyl release on Bahnsteig 23, an equally stunning album on ESP, a plethora of killer remixes and continuing his record label ‘Love Pain Sunshine & Rain’. Need we say more?

His broad electronic taste is vast, and his sound can be a drift across the universe, a jump to hyperspace, industrial binary clunking or an extraterrestrial attack on the senses. Todays sample is the latter. Packed with ample 303, nothing could be better suited to help you laugh in the face of ‘dry January’, show it the Vs and prime you for the weekend.

High quality house music is, no doubt, a specialty of Kerri Chandler’s, and his groove infused ‘Get Out’ is no exception. A powerful remix package is on its way for Kerri’s own Madhouse Records via his Matrix alias, and Mixmag has grabbed the Detroit Swindle take, which rewinds it all the way back with the infectious vocal samples from the original released all the way back in 1992 on Madhouse. The remix package, along with takes from Peggy Gou, Josh Butler and Jimpster, is out February 9.

Our recent cover star is one of the most popular artists on the planet right now and when she's not touring the biggest festivals and playing at the best clubs in the world, she's rolling out productions that simply smoulder on the dancefloor.

Following on from her formidable Ninja Tune EP, Peggy returns to Phonica White for 'Travelling Without Arriving'. Her last EP on the label was the super well-received ‘Day Without Yesterday’/ ‘Six O Six’ release and she comes back with similarly groove-fuelled rollers.

The great pyramid loomed in the distance, a towering dark triangle etched across the brilliant blue radiance of the midday sky. Sheherazade would attract gatherers from far and wide, they came to observe the ominous scale of the brickwork and the golden glow which illuminated from the nothing that was the desert floor. It would be there until the end of time, they would not. It would stand tall, they would crumble. Inside it was fierce and strong, nobody knew the power. 

Tora Vinter is set to release a new EP on BROR. The Gothenburg based producer delivers two eclectic house cuts which are then followed by a remix from Dj Lily. The atmosphere runs deep on this one.

Molly continues to cement RDV’s reputation as a refreshing outlet for contemporary house with the expertly-curated Recit De Voyage Volume 2, a generous compilation that collects a number of established and upcoming producers to deliver vital, sincere and wholly individual music.

Leading the charge is Finale Sessions founder Michael Zucker, who follows his appearance on RDV's first release (as one half of the duo Prophets of a New Generation) with ‘City Streets’; having previously appeared on recordd with the likes of Terrence Dixon, Boo Williams and Norm Talley, he delivers his own nocturnal vision, a gentle and smooth soundtrack for warm Midwestern nights. Molly’s own contribution ‘Poble New’ follows, demonstrating her well-established mastery of tight grooves, atmosphere and subtle jack.

Douala, an artist associated with cult label Blorp, brings us ‘Orbiting’, a powerful slice of liquid funk. 
Modern House Quintet, presents ‘Plaka’, his first release away from his MHQ imprint, and arguably the record’s outright deepest moment. 
The founder of Popcorn Records, Siler ups the tempo for ‘French Manicure’, a playful, fizzy house bubbler.
Discovered at New York’s Elsewhere club during only his second-ever gig, John Silas represents the Eastern seaboard on irresistibly smooth cut ‘One Time’. 
Silas’s nocturnal groove leads in nicely to the more experimental, dense forest of sound forged by Kristian Amou & The Modern Quintet Ensemble on Bokobimbo. 

Finally, Orion hits with the MPC front-and-center for the undeniable groove of ‘Just Have You’, which rolls sensually towards a soulful vocal sample, culled from the dustiest of wax.

Stenocactus crispatus is native to broad swathes of Mexico’s Chihuahuan Desert, specifically the Northern and Central areas of Hidalgo, Querétaro, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Tlaxcala, and Puebla. Colloquially known as the “Brain Cactus” due to its unique undulating ribs, Stenocactus crispatus can be found primarily in xerophilous pastizal ecosystems as well as open piñon-juniper woodlands. Stenocactus crispatus is a solitary plant, meaning it rarely branches, and is covered in wavy ribs protected by long flattened spines. Regarded as an ideal specimen for home cultivation, it produces small yet vividly attractive magenta and pale pink flowers when in bloom. Our botanists strive to source and produce high-quality specimens to enrich your mind as well as your ears. After many months in the field our team has returned with a diverse selection of sonic seedlings. Following a series of meticulous experiments in our research facility each seedling has been deemed safe for general propagation and cleared for release.
