Nagoya-based multi-instrumentalist and rising DJ Hiroyuki Kato returns to the ever-consistent Flexi Cuts with Life 今 (FLEX 031), a record that perfectly distills the artist’s layered approach to sound and the label’s instinct for unearthing voices that carry both groove and depth.
Having built a relationship with the label over the past two years—already signing an EP and a single—Kato now delivers a project that feels like a culmination of that dialogue: five tracks on wax, complemented by an additional cut exclusive to the digital edition.

True to its title, Life 今 exudes immediacy and presence. Kato draws on his background as a polyrhythmic player, folding live instrumentation into supple house frameworks, always with a subtle melodic sensibility.
The vinyl selections range from the quietly propulsive to the rhythmically expansive, each tune infused with that warm, unhurried Flexi aura. Basslines strut with understated confidence, chords shimmer with daylight energy, and the arrangements move with a natural, unforced flow.

Oslo collective Lakeshouse invite you into a fictitious club-utopia on their kaleidoscopic debut album, ‘Om Verda Mi’. The new school Norwegian producers distil a rich heritage of Scandinavian disco and electronica into 12 dazzling cuts. 

The ultra talented trio is made up of producers, DJs and jazz musicians who have been friends since kindergarten. Their sound is club-friendly but inventive, full of off-kilter charm and playful musical personality that was laid bare on their debut EP for cult label Paper Recordings back in 2019. The space house and disco sounds featured crisp production infused with a cheeky sense of humour and a broad range of influences from Scandi, classical, Italo and techno to Aphex Twin, pop and other leftfield styles. Add in skilled instrumentals, rich creative synergy and psychedelic colours, and you have the soundtrack to a wild utopian escape. 

All of this plays out in ‘Om Verda Mi’, which re-imagines celebrated Scandinavian sounds from greats like Röyksopp, Studio Barnhus, Lindstrøm and Todd Terje. The record kicks off with celestial synth cascades on 'Introfil' before being swept up on 'Ubergrensa Harmoni’ and its rubbery groove and lush layers of shiny bright harmonic bells. 'Eg Star Opp I Dag' rides a more thumping house beat, embellished with swooning strings and jazzy chords, while 'Nitti' gets glitchy with grinding rhythms and chopped up samples. 

There's a blissed-out moment to pause on 'Secret Plants' with filtered vocals and twinkling keys that get you gazing up at the sky. 'La Playa' is a mix of restless strings, old school piano vamps and florid vocal ad libs. 'Ondekoza' is a punchy, dubby Italo house and disco collision, while 'Lakes House' sinks into synth modulations with smoky late-night energy. 'Renates Dans' takes off on lithe pads and hooky pixel-thin 80s leads, 'Ensom' layers wonky rhythms and indie vocals and 'Evig Kjaerleik' spins out on pumping house straight from an 80s Nintendo. The 'Outrofil' closes out with warm, sentimental melodies that gather you round the fire in deepest Norwegian winter.

Sounds Over Seas is ready to release its very first LP by label founder Julian Bainbridge. The album covers aspects of the Deep House genre in its classic definition, pushing certain boundaries, whilst maintaining the spirit of the genre through feeling and utilising melodies and rhythm to evoke emotions which go beyond the dance floor. Keeping it raw throughout the nine tracks, each one incorporates different elements of the music spectrum. EP represents a thoughtfully crafted selection of analog sounds, inspired by classic house music. Tommes, being a part of eastern Germany's underground scene since 20 years, demonstrates his unique style with four timeless tracks. His passion for dubby sounds and chords echoes through the whole EP – solid deepness incoming!
"McDrive" is a bass line driven tune, full of versatile, warm synthie-melodies and catchy percussions. Its length offers great mixing possibilites. Let's get smooth and dreamy on the „StendalSunsetBoulevard“. A beautiful piece for any occasion.
Side B features two more linear and straightforward tracks. "Deeples“ hypnotic dub-groove creates a very profound depths. Club approved!
Cheerful house roller „Deemin Goes" glares with atmospheric pads and a punchy bassline - perfectly rounding off an honest Solo-EP.

The EP is limited to 300 editions with a handcrafted cover artwork - 50 of them comes in a special black and white edition, 250 copies in decent black artwork.

With Florian's "Rush" the A-side starts fast. Straight and uncompromising, the 909 percussion & deep melodies make the dance􀂢floor dream. The A2 track is a considered 7:46 min slow burner with deep dub echoes. Meditation stuff here from Tommes.
Renard's trippy deep-house tune,"Visit your Mother" creates spherical atmospheres and pumping lines invading from his soul to your feet. The B2 delivers Eros Miguel. His "Tribute" is an authentic deep bass monster, rounding off this versatile EP.
