Beyond keepin’ a pirate on his feet, the big toe be a crucial part o’ movin’ fast—whether ye be runnin’ from the law or chargin’ into battle. It be the last thing that leaves the deck as ye push off, givin’ ye the momentum to dash, jump, or even kick a foe right off the plank. A strong and sturdy big toe can make all the difference in escapin’ a mutiny or chasin’ down a bilge rat who owes ye gold!

Now, ye may not know this, but them learned folks—aye, the ones with their books and spectacles—say the big toe played a big role in turnin’ us sea dogs from tree-swingin’ apes into upright wanderers o’ the world.
